Good Times

So my hubby, I and a couple of friends spent the day in Downtown Detroit at Hart Plaza where the "Ribs and R&B Music Festival" has been going on all weekend and it was fabulous! But the highlight of our adventure had nothing to do with Ribs nor R&B music. We were walking around the Plaza, checking out the sights and at one of the booths, we saw BernNadette Stanis - 'Thelma' from the TV show "Good Times"

At 57 years young, looking freaking FABULOUS!!! nod

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

She was really cool. People were asking her "Where's JJ?" She politely smiled and said, "He's in Vegas." Jimmy Walker of course is out in Vegas. But I thought it was so sweet, the way she just goes with it. She was taking pictures, signing autographs and selling memorabilia to raise awareness of Alzheimer's Disease. Her mother was diagnosed with it six years ago. She will also be back in Detroit, October 2nd to the 5th, in a Gospel Stage Play with Vivica A. Fox at the Detroit Opera House, called "Danger At My Door". cool

She's currently starring in some play. I heard them mention her name on the radio a couple days ago. I think it's currently in Detroit. She is definately a beautiful woman!

Thelma may not have been able to make a simple pot of oatmeal, but she had a smile to die for...and ass for days!!!! And you can tell from that slice of hip hanging off the side if her chair that she still has it! AND i would give anything to have the Sly Stone posters she had on the wall in her bedroom. nod

I think I've only seen the parent's bedroom.

Guess I haven't seen all the episodes from back then, thought I did.

I'll try googling it.

She's actually written a couple of books, I saw them but none on her "Good Times experiences" or I'd have certainly bought a copy. When I go to see the stage play she'll be in here in October and I can manage to talk to her again (I have my methods wink ) I'll be sure to ask about it. thumbs up!
