Well, a mass shooting has happened where I live tonight...

3 Mounties killed, 2 wounded in Moncton; gunman still on the loose

Three RCMP officers have been killed and another two have suffered non-life-threatening injuries in Moncton, N.B., where a manhunt is underway for the shooter, RCMP say.

Officers from Codiac RCMP, the local detachment, are searching for 24-year-old Justin Bourque of Moncton, RCMP say. He is considered armed and dangerous.

“I heard the shotgun around eight. I was sleeping on my couch and it woke me up,” said Danielle Hache, who lives on Isington St., an area near one of the reported shootings.

“I heard a good five, six, seven shots, for sure. It was close to here because I could hear it very well.”

A photo of a man believed to be Bourque, taken by a photographer for the Times & Transcript newspaper, shows a man dressed in green camouflage clothing carrying two rifles.

Carolyn McCormack, a spokesperson for the Moncton Hospital, said two victims with gunshot wounds have been admitted to the facility. No details are known about their condition at this time.

Very sad, thankfully I live a distance away from the shooting, but I can't get my son to go to sleep and unfortunately I am on call for my work and it directly effects us. sad

Still at large, all schools, city transit, malls, government offices are closed. I have a brother directly in the lock down area, not allowed to leave their home.

This totally sucks.

My prayers go out to the families of those who have lost loved ones, and I pray this comes to a quick, non-violent end without any more loss of life.

I guess this is his cousin. But appears to share similar views regarding the police:

And this is one of his friends. The posts of when the polic show up, and then when he realizes why they are there, are just freaky.

Someone else posted that they've apprehended Bourque. I hope everyone is OK.

i was made aware of this:

Manhunt Underway as a Moncton Man Goes on Cop Killing Spree

Jun 5, 2014

Heavily armed police are conducting a search in the Moncton Coliseum area and Pinehurst subdivision after a gunman fatally shot three RCMP officers and injured two others in Moncton, N.B.

Some of the standoff was caught on video.

The rampage brought to a halt a bustling city of about 70,000 that is typically one of the most vibrant in the region.

According to CTV News, police are looking for a 24-year-old Moncton man, Justin Bourque. Police tweeted a photo of the suspect dressed in military camouflage and carrying guns.

bourque

“He is believed to be armed and dangerous, and people should avoid contact with him,” Const. Damien Theriault of the Codiac RCMP said.

A Facebook page under the same name had several anti-gun control messages. Lyrics from a Megadeth song, ending with “I believe my kingdom will come,” were posted shortly before the shootings began Wednesday night.

Bourque shared many anti-gun control graphics on his facebook page and you can rest assured that his actions will be tied to those who support gun rights.

This is NOT how peaceful change will come. Violence only begets more violence.

Aggression against people who have not directly threatened you is NEVER an instrument of peaceful change. Now, because of this incident, those who may have been on the fence about questioning the police state will go back to unquestioning dependence upon state violence.

This is a tragedy indeed.

If we do find out that the RCMP was somehow plotting to kill Bourque and he was acting in self-defense, then we will update this article.

Until then, if people think that killing random cops will solve anything they are horribly mistaken. The state wants you to enact violence against them.

It makes them the victim and those who oppose them, the enemy.

If ever there was gas on the fire of the rising police state, this is it. Do not play their game, it is rigged.

Ok, no one was plotting to kill this guy.

Witnesses watched him come up behind an officer, kill them and then walk on by.

Rumour is his cousin called RCMP and said he was in his house. They surround, and enter and guess what...house is totally empty. Great diversion. Who knows where he was able to go while they concentrated on this place.

Police want to be ruthless, they get what they got coming to them.

I'm not saying all police are bad, but when a good deal of them dont care and do very slimeball things very often to the people their trying to "protect", well, dont be too surprised when one nut goes off the rails. Its their fault, and the fault of those who do nothing to make the situation just for the way police treat others.

If that was the other guy named Bourque whose Facebook I linked (Nathaniel Bourque), then I'm not surprised. Nathaniel hates the police, too. I hope they have Nathaniel in custody or at least are watching him very close.

First off, you have no idea what the RCMP are like here, but I do. This is a small city and by no means do the police here have a reputation for being ruthless.

Every town has good and bad cops but you need to remember this is not the US or even a larger Canadian city. Not comparable at all.

I'm pretty sure cop killers make headlines in the US especially when they shoot 5 and kill 3 of them all at once.

Also, this stupidness has been all over CNN.

this is a tragedy, and anytime a mentally ill/drugged person rampages and kills people with a gun, a knife, or other weapon, it is a sad story. but imo using this tragedy to enact strict gun control/removal laws will make us 'safer' in the same way that 9/11 resulted in the patriot act and made us 'safer' neutral
