Actually the STAR WARS - DESPECIALIZED EDITION HD is the only way to go! It's a meticulous restoration of the movie in high quality to the original 1977 version.
If you just pretend that the Ewoks are Wookies, which they were originally suppose to be, ROTJ is much easier to enjoy.
Seriously the back and forth of Vader(Evil) vs Luke(Good) and whats going on Endor with the Nature(Good) vs Technology(Evil) works wonderfully. Only after Luke realizes that Han and Company has destroyed the force field does he reject the dark side and become a Jedi.
See I'm not a fan of the nature vs tech thing... it's too Disney. To childlike. For me, Star Wars appeal was much more complicated, artistically sound, and conceptual. Also what was cool was the restaint. You saw the skeleton of a giant creature in the sand... you heard there were huge cities... but not showing them explicitly made it so much more engrossing and imaginative for the viewer.
I wasn't even a fan of Yoda, although the x-wing levitation scene is done very very well.
I certainly hated the way the Wampa seemed like a 6 Million Dollar Man type idea jus thrown in (of course to explain Mark Hamill's scars from his accident).
data .. u have lost your freakin mind .. the prequels are garbage .. the special editions suck too .. i am pretty sure i can recite the entire dialog of empire strikes back .. nothing can touch that movie .. you should be ashamed of yourself .. seriously .. you are not a star wars fan .. nothing personal .. just thought someone should tell you the truth ..
No this officially cleared by Lucasfilm: it took about a month for Han and Leia to travel from the Asteroid field to Bespin. So we go back and forth from events NOT happening at the exact same time but during a same time frame between Hoth and Bespin. Makes sense.
yeah but it is not good for the joke. I think they also suggested that there was a back up hyper-drive or that the sub light were still really fast. But where is the Astroid field in relation to Hoth? I would think that if Hoth was that close to Bespin (a month at sub light) seems Han would have realized that. And any system would be light years away. That is one part that I really take issue with... but it is still my favorite movie.
The Anoat Asteroid Belt is in the orbit of Hoth so it makes sense. Luke has hyperdrive so he can reach Dagobah very quickly and stays for about a month, while the Millenium Falcom, after escaping the Empire, needs a month to reach Bespin. Now of course why the Empire waits until they get there instead of intercepting the Falcon when Boba Fett signals it to them can be questioned but since obviously they hoped Luke or some other rebels would meet Han and Leia there it makes sense to set up a trap on Bespin instead of catching the Falson on the way there.

they ended up in the Anoat System...which is different than the Hoth System. So the must have had some limited light speed. It being the 'fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy' it may be able to go from one system to another with sub light engines in a few days. But in the milky way the closest system to us is 4 light years away. But we can assume that some stars are much closer to each other. Still it is a plot hole.
Attack of the Clones sucks. The dialogue makes it one of the most embarassing movies to watch with another human being. And WTF is this?
Hayden Christensen is very cute though and since Padme is not as strong as Leia I could see her loving him just because of that even after he screams about murdering the sand people in front of her.
I love Phantom and Sith was exciting the first few views but now it's only worth watching once they go to arrest Palpaltine, the first hour is a bore.
I like the original Star Wars, ESB, and ROTJ (even with the dreaded ewoks!). Not a fan of the prequels, plagued with bad acting and crappy lines, not to mention the Mario Bros. grass.
99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Goddammit no! Anoat isn't a system it's an asteroid belt in the orbit of Hoth.
the answer of the time line is simple:The Falcon flew threw a plot hole allowing Luke to training and allow Han and the others to get to Bespin in short order.
But really it does show another big mess up with the prequels. It was not until way later that the idea that kids would be taken from their family to receive a life time of training. Not needed. Another change they seemed to make between ANH and ESB was the Emperor. I do not think he was a Sith in ANH. (read the Preface to Star Wars).
But yeah there were big changes (such as Vader being Luke's father) between Star Wars and Empire.
There were MORE for the prequels.

and that is exactly the problem. a consistent movie should stand on its own, and not require outside explanations given long afterwards
also the explanation is kinda unsatisfying: Han+Leia have some breathtaking high pitched action for a few hours but snooze the rest of the time/month, so we the audience don't even have to see whats happening, cause it is too damn boring
Lucasfilm copouts aside, it's just bad & sloppy editing, nothing more nothing less
Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!
foremost, the Force is a religion. no flying thingy hocus pocus
I know we've all come to accpet this with the later movies, but it was not the original idea in 1977
oh and another thing is the unlcear/confusing timeline of the parallell story arcs of Han+Leia and Luke+Yoda. are we talking days? weeks? months? years?
but don't get me wrong, it's still a great movie though

No, it is more that that. *another flaw they made was that people alive during the time of the Jedi just forgot!? But then again (another huge error) was that there were only 10,000 jedi. That would mean that most people would never see one.)
But with Luke seeing with his eyes closed. With jedi Mind Tricks! With Ben talking after being killed (I still want to know was the deal that he waw clearly GONE before the saber hit him an issuw with efectcs or was he already vanishing?). So we have some uses of 'magic' powers in Star Wars.
it depends what level of "magic" we talk about. hearing voices (from God or deseased loved ones) that's religion, no magic some kinda sixth sense so you can "see" with eyes closed? not yet magic. jedi mind tricks? basically some type of hypnosis, not magic.
but if Luke snipped his fingers and turned the Wampa into a rabbit, it would be magic, not the force. it would be non-canon over the top bullshit. and that was exactly how I felt when I first saw the flying lightsaber in the wampa cave. but as i said, got used to the re-defined version of the Force over the years

could be that that stuff was all thought up after? Like Darth Vader being the father was not until the 3 or so draft of Empire--and in the Jedi Shooting Script Ben and Owen were brothers.
But I still say BEN made the sound happen and that BEN vanished (which had Darth going all "Whaaaat?")
So the idea of making things float is not that far from what little we see in Star Wars. (i can not remember what all happened in Splinter)
I for one think they UNDER used the power!
Oh something else! I think it was during ESB that Lucas said that anyone can learn the force.

I agree, like the extent of their force abilities weren't thought out yet. I can go through all the movies and point out things that I ask 'why didn't they use the force'
I guess in some instances for the earlier movies, technology prob hindered things.
Darth Vader physically strangling the Rebel Commander and lifting him off the ground
seeing that done by the force would have been excellent

i think it is between hoth and bespin...which is odd as it seems that Han would have known the nearby systems... but maybe he did? But then how would he NOT know they were in Anoat?
but anyway...plot holes aside still the best of the 6

I'm with u on that, the mystery of this universe we saw a little about heard a little about:the Clone Wars, the Emporer, Coruscant, etc implications there were other dark Jedi, I loved the mystery IV V VI gave us. Yoda & Dagobah are/were still mystery like, which I appreciate, not knowing a whole lot about Yoda still is preferable. I don't think they have written anything about where he is from and only touched on his existance and why Dagobah. A comic wrote the story of jedi Yoda in his earlier/younger years of being a Knight tracking down a dark Jedi of a certain cult and fighting him there(which is why he chose the planet to hide) but Leia & Luke talked about it in that (I think I have this right) the dark Jedi crashed there and was confronted by Yoda in a quick fierce battle, Yoda already living there and in hiding needed to take the dark Jedi out quickly because the D.Jedi rescue becon was signaling for a ship to pick him up... Correct me if I'm wrong... it's a very interesting piece

The Anoat system is between Hoth System and Bespin System. Han looks it up and references it, in the movie. Its canon.

i know it is in the movie. My issue is Han did not seem to know where he was or that he was so close to Lando. But it is possable he did not even KNOW Lando was there until he saw it on the display. He checks out Bespin and notices Lando is there.

By the way Han spoke of it, he didn't know Lando was there, seems like information was coming up on the screen prob showed Lando as the admin.
