im trying, but 'the walking dead' is silly...

...it is. I'm trying though. I'm like halfway through season three.

I was able to surmount my first and really only issue with it. Zombies. And zombies are silly. It took A LOT of 'willing' for me to 'suspend my disbelief.'. But I did it...I rolled with the show. It worked for a while.

But....under threat of zombification by mere scratches...people are walking around with no sleeves and belly shirts fighting zombies. And suddenly u don't have to get bit to be infected...everyone already is. One guy gets a small bite or scratch and is slowly on his way to zombidom....they leave him on the side of the road....but Dale, old man number one, gets ripped wide open by a zombie and rick wants to perform surgery to save him??? U CANT DUMMY...SHOOT HIM ALREADY. Jesus.

Old man # 2, Hershel? , gets his leg bit...but cuz they were able to amputate it off he didn't zombify? That makes absolutely no sense.

One fool, the wife stealer, slices his hand with a knife that done been in zombie skulls all day but don't get sick. The redneck guy be yanking arrows out of skulls and never manages to nick himself with an arrow. But desperate Asian dude is still checking/grooming his g/f for scratches?

Its all just damn silly. I get the plot stuff like loosing family kamber and having to kill them when zombified...that's all tragic and Boohoo. I get the isolation stuff and the wife thievery plot...

...like I get the human stuff and it's a bit engaging...but all that silly, stoopid as hell, zombie bullshit...just iverides it all and all I. End up doing is laughing and yelling at the TV about how stoopid these people are.

We think we know a lot about zombies, but we don't. There is still a lot to learn.

Some people get infected quickly, others don't....we just don't know why.

But don't know if you think it's still silly, when they come for your brain.

There is a REAL 2-hour documentary that was put out by the History Channel.
The first hour discusses the history of the fascination with zombies, voodoo, and the zombie genre in movies and tv. The second hour is about diseases and pandemics, with information from the medical community and CDC.
It was very interesting... geek

To the OP: You can't overanalyze the TV show. It's just that- entertainment.
I'm a huge fan and I say, "Wait a minute... confuse " at times...
You don't have to like it, but if you watch it as fact you will constantly be disappointed.

**There is a scene in Season 2 when you can clearly see the camera man outside the window. It is what it is... tv

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

falloff zombies don't have feelings to hurt, right? from what i've rad in the textbooks, once they become zombified, their overwhelming hunger for human brains pushes any other thought or feeling away. so it's okay to watch them on film and criticize their performance, in fact you can walk right up to them and say 'you stink!' and they won't take offense cause everyone knows it's true

There's a WHOLE BARN full of these things... Like fifteen of them. No one figures it out untill Asian guy almost trips over one?? Someone must have caught some kinda wiff. I know the redneck guy prolly stinks a bit...but 15 rotting corpses don't tickle no nostrals?!?! C'mon. neutral

^ actually what probably happened is the wind was blowing the stench away. if they were all upwind of the zombie barn they'd never have had any warning. plus, barns usually smell like cow and horse poo, so that likely masked any odors coming outta there nod

Hopefully Uve never smelled the stench of a decaying body. Cow and horse pooh are one thing. I been to the fair and a cow farm. Dead body's tho....those permeate. I had a tiny itsy bitsy turtle that died. It stank up a foulness that was unfathomable. I would rather bury my face in some cow dung or a grandpas brown diaper than smell that tiny dead turtle again. Now this was a barn of 15 rotting corpses. Wind does its thing...I get that...but it can't wipe away all that stench. Trust me. Rotting human bodies have a stench that permeates your SOUL. They BEG and PLEAD at the top of their lungs to be known. Some wind ain't gonna drown that mess out.

Zombies are played out. At least the Romero movies had social/political ideas in them. Best to stick with Night Of The Living Dead and Dawn Of The Dead.

Naw...not a lady. Just a case of Netflix, time, boredom, and a curiosity or the public fascination.

I'm under the impression that the zombie phenomenon doesn't run as deep 'the walking dead' phenomenon runs. I wanted to see what about 'the walking dead' accounted for that difference.

I was thinking the quality of the writing was going to be a long the lines of breaking bad. Made an assumption cuz it was AMC and all. It isn't... but I am still watching, Its decent. But that zombie shit...argh.

I'm a massive Walking Dead fan (and horror and zombie movies in general) but I do have to agreed with some of the original posters comments...quite a bit of it just doesn't make sense.

The only that gets me is how on earth none of the characters have ended up with zombie blood or splatter in their mouths? They are always hacking the hell out of zombies with bits flying everywhere...surely someone would have injested a small amount of zombie grue by now, which would have turned them??

But as someone else said, don't let this niggles ruin your enjoyment...its a tremendous show aside from these points! biggrin

The Walking Dead is the worst TV serie of all time.

Game of Thrones could be a strong contender for that title if a 3rd eyed Dragon shows up and eats all the 3 dragons or some of those ice walkers eat a mermaid after peeing fire. The show is hands down a masterpiece, but some of its things annoy me.
