Well, I haven't used any myself cause they're not available here in India, that's why I was asking! From what I've heard of it, Spotify would be an example, yes.

I listen to pandora on my tv while I clean house or take a bath, because it's free unlike rhapsody or spotify premium.

... so are you Happy with what it picks for you? Were you curious about what algorithm it uses when you signed up to it? Was that a deciding factor?

Why do you prefer it over just, a traditional radio station?

It picks music similar to the artist you assign to that station, and you can add more making it a staion that can go from 2000s Europop to 60s RnB to 80s rock. You can give a thumbsdown to any song you don't like and they never play it again. There are a limited number of skips per hour but you can create 5 or 6 stations and switch if you run out of skips, you can make the stations basically the same or completely differrent.

absolutely not

... but if you don't pay for it and it doesn't have ads, then.... who funds it?

I've used Yahoo! Music, AOL Radio, Pandora, Slacker, and maybe one or two others briefly here & there.

As mentioned above, it picks songs/artists that are similar to your selection...so Prince, for example, would bring up selections by The Time, Sheila E., Michael Jackson, and others remotely similar like Luther Vandross.

If you use the free version, then random ads are inserted into the playlist (like rasdio)...subscription does away with them.

I enjoy the live aspect of a traditonal radio station when I'm in the car (especially on way to work) but sometimes I enjoy the internet version better.

It has very short ads and they are fairly infrequent. Unfortunately it's only available in the US and a few other countries. I remember I tried to logon while using a dutch vpn and it listed the 3 countries you can use it in.
