Jennifer Lawrence doesn't deserve her 2nd Golden Globe!

I'm really, really upset that she won the award over Luptia N'yongo who starred in 12 Years a Slave and delivered one of the finest performances this year.

J Law is just so fucking overrated, she's everywhere because of her so-called funny character and behavior, she just sucks compared to other heavy-weight actresses like Amy Adams, Marion Cotillard or Michelle Williams. Her role in Silver Linings Playbook last year was fine imo, but this year, her perfomance in American Hustle is as good as that but nothing like Lupita's role!!

And as we all know you win the GG means you win the oscar... I really wish her the best in her career, but c'mon. It's not fair!

Honestly, she really didn't deserve the first one. lol I've seen "Silver Linings Playbook" and "American Hustle" but not yet "12 Years A Slave" and I say will this, although I like Jennifer Lawrence, I don't think that her performances are so great that it deserves an award. I like her quirkiness and all, but I feel like she played the same character in "American Hustle" that she did in "Silver Linings Playbook". And while I'm talking about "American Hustle", the movie wasn't even that good, so why it's been garnering so much attention is beyond me. "Silver Linings Playbook" was way better. I don't really expect much from these award shows anyway, but I'm just saying. I think Kerry Washington was robbed though.

yeah man same goes for me, American Hustle is just very overrated this year! 3 Golden globes? Fuck that, I like David o russell but his two previous flicks The Fighter and SLP were much better as you said.

I can't say because I haven't seen any of the nominations yet. I wati for them to go to Netflix. I hate going to the movie theater becuase half the time you have to deal with idiots and their cell phones or rowdy teenagers.

The beef lies with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, not Jennifer Lawrence.

hmmmm....saw American Hustle and loved it

Jennifer was great and would have stolen the show if it were not for Amy Adams

I don't Jennifer was in the movie long enough to even be nominated, let alone win an award. Plus, she is one of my least favorite actresses. She was highly irritating in Silver Linings Playbook.

By the way, I don't think Lupita should hav won either.

It's funny when people get mad when someone they likes loses to someone else, they blame it on the actor lol

Well, that's true, I was kinda mad that moment, I did this thread last year when DDL won over Joaquin, it's just that... the HFPA are too uknown to blame, you gotta blame someone famous and yet you get to enjoy that blaming. wink

I've seen most if not all of Jennifer's movies and she's one of the BEST young Leading Actresses out there. She can steal a scene and her Eyes, oh those Eyes will cut you deep. The Masses crowned her "The best thing to happen to Film" for all the right reasons. I haven't seen "American Hustle" but I don't need a Movie-Critic telling me she stole the Film because that's all Jennifer knows how to do..Jennifer's performances come across as "natural & real" and she can carry a Film...

I thought her performance in Winter's Bone is still her best, and one of the best film performances in a long time. She was really good in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. She carried the first Hunger Games film.

The HFPA has some explaining to do about awarding 12 Years best film but not acknowledging N'Yongo or the other actors. But that has nothing to do with Lawrence as an actor.

I feel the same way, so it's funny to me to see how many think she sucks. I've studied drama and to me Jennifer portrays believable characters and she seems really dedicated. I can't find anything wrong with her as an actress, so I'm not quite sure what it is that makes some people view her as a bad one.

But at the end of the day it's always a matter of taste and the same goes for who wins an award and who doesn't. They could just as well give an award to all the nominees.

I quite liked American Hustle and I think she's a pretty good actress, but I agree that she wasn't really deserving of the award this time around (compared to the others nominated).

On a side note, I REALLY do not like her personality in real life. Seeing her in interviews and what not just makes me mad. The whole "I'm just a quirky, tomboy/girl-next-door/regular gal like you" routine gets so stale to. lol Though maybe I'm just being a hater.

If you will, so will I

Lol I understand but I've learned blaming the actor is much too easier than blaming the real culprits. lol

Lol I think she's genuine...somewhat. She seems cool but since it's Hollyweird, I don't know.

Agreed...I wish I had seen the Flock of Films that will be nominated this morning...They all were released in December and I only had Sci-Fi Action flicks on my mind.."American Hustle" just came out so I have time to check it out...A couple of critics say they don't think Oscar voters will give Jennifer a 2nd Oscar in a row. Tom Hanks and few others received Oscars back to back.. I still say the supporting actress Oscar will go to Oprah. Most critics and Movie-goers want it to go to Luptia for "12yrs" and then some say she's too NEW....It'll be interesting to see how it plays out once we see who's nominated...

I feel the same way but Award shows do it all the time. I call it "saving face"..Look at Ben Aflfeck's "Argo"...I thought the film was predictable & mediocre(so did some movie-goers) but I feel Ben is a talented Director and good at telling a story. The Film did NOT deserve to win the "Best Picture" Oscar but Ben campaigned as though his Life depended on it and it worked. "12yrs" simply does not have the money to campaign because it is an Independent Film. Brad Pit(Producer) isn't going to fork over more of his own money and you cant blame him. In a way it's VERY, very, VERY unfortunate for Chiwetel & Luptia. The Academy might "save face" and ONLY give "12yrs' the "Best Picture" Oscar since it will be the first Film featuring a predominantly Black cast to EVER win best picture...Like mostl award shows the Oscars might spread around the Love/Awards and make sure each film gets at least 1 or more....

Weird, I don't see her being anything but authentic. I definitely don't get any phoniness vibes from the interviews I've seen.

Same here, but people are good at reading too much into things. I'm sure there are people who meet me and think I'm acting like this and that. It's obviously too easy (or difficult) to just let people be and believe that they're genuine lol

I admittedly may be just "hating" and judging her all wrong, so I'll just say her personality puts me off. Luckily, she is a good actress and comes across a lot better in her roles.

If you will, so will I
