Yes yes, it's only a boat race that none of you have heard of but you outnumber us by 100/1 in population and your boat has spend 2 weeks in our wake on your own turf. It's embarrassing.

Let's finish the job today kiwis.

I'm rooting for the Emirates, the team and their families are staying at one of my properties for th America's Cup, and I have grown very fond of all of them.

Wow, that's really cool. Tell them Lusty from Auckland wishes them luck for tomorrow.

I've never got into the sport before but these new twin hull behemoths are amazing to see race.

Clearly and perhaps understanably no one here is interested in this sport but after my bragging a week ago (Team New Zealand were leading 8-1 in a first to 9 comp) Oracle USA have arguably made the biggest comeback in sports history, won 8 in a row and taken the cup today.

Absolutely amazing and full respect.

Heartbreaking for New Zeland though as the whole country was into this and hoping for a win.

Our boys choked.

I love NZ but have to go against them as Emirates reminds me too much of Arsenal. Blech.

But I see that the US won. How the heck did that happen? Weren't they down 1-8 or something.

In any event, go USA, I guess!

Yeah it was 8-1 although Oracle had actually won 3 at that point. They started at -2 due to cheating. Much of thier crew are kiwis and we even built thier boat. Larry Ellison owns Oracle and has his boat builders in New Zealand. Half way through he had his kiwi boat designers make an automatic system for something that was done manually. This made thier boat much more efficient and made the difference. I really feel for our boys. It probably means the end of Team New Zealand as we can't afford to keep it going. Still, it's an amazing comeback but not quite the glamorous underdog story of Hollywood legend.

And just to be clear. Oracle "USA" had an Aussie captain, a boat full of Aussies and kiwis and after sacking thier tactician half way through, brought in a British Olympian. wink

well pleased NZ lost

given the nauestaing nationalism the thinking public has had to endure the last 2 weeks and the corporate welfare model that funed the team losing is a good result.

I'm not really a sailing fan let alone an expert (though I enjoyed to participate on a few "törns" in my younger days) but goddam, over the last week I really got sucked into it eek eek eek

those high tech boats literally flying over water, great gosh a mighty!
i watched the last few races and of course THAT finale, that was amazing

props to both teams for pulling of such an exciting event clapping

but I still can't stand Larry Ellison

Yes, my Kiwi coworker calls the US team "New Zealand Team B."

You sound quite bitter. I'm glad you can finally find enjoyment from it even it's coming from a position of schadenfreude.
