Amazon textbook rental now extends to hardcopies

There is no bigger inconvenience for student than buying college textbooks, mostly because of the enormous and usurious expense. However, Amazon would like to do the nation's pupils a solid, by expanding the Amazon book rental program to hardcopy books. How many times have you needed additional information on types of payday loans and resorted to an online search on instant loans for bad credit?" Look no further, all the facts you will need is at Match Financial!

Book inflation leads to more rental

Textbooks are one of the biggest pains in the backside on the subject of college expenses. Aside from the already ample installment loans one has to take to pay for tuition, room and board and so on, one also has to buy textbooks, which are a usury in excess of what is thought of as excessive usury.

SmartMoney magazine explained that costs of books are ridiculously expensive. The costs were tracked by the University Board at $1,158 a year for the average four-year public university. It is $1,213 a year for private school pupils.

Not only that, but they are getting more costly. According to a 2005 study by the Government Accountability Office, the price of textbooks rose by 186 percent between 1986 and 2004. Tuition and charges rose, by comparison, 240 percent. Core inflation was a scant 72 percent.

Pupils can get some help from the brand new Amazon book rental plan though.

No Kindle necessary for savings

There already is an Amazon book rental program, according to TechCrunch, but it's only for Kindle customers. Just like Kindle book rentals, pupils pay much less than what they would for purchasing a digital copy of the book and get temporary access to said text. However, the website, in its wisdom, has expanded textbook rentals to consist of hard-copy book. Renting a book through Amazon gets the student the book for 130 days, after which time they have to ship it back to Amazon.

If you get a Kindle textbook, you will normally save about 80 percent, according to Amazon’s estimates, because of the cost of transporting hard copies. The hard copies will still save students about 70 percent of the cost.

Students do not have to pay return shipping no matter what, but they do have to pay original shipping costs unless they order a book on Amazon Prime and pay more than $25.

Get a full refund if not good enough

As long as a student returns the Amazon book rental within 30 days, they can get a refund. The books are not guaranteed to be in brand new condition, but they should be satisfactory.

Every person expects late charges to exist in a rental business. The books have to be returned to Amazon or a 15-day late fee will be charged. Then, the charge goes up to the full amount of the book.

Bear in mind, though, that there are other ways to rent textbooks. Barnes and Noble and Chegg.com also have textbook rental programs, so students should surely shop around to get the best deal. Some college libraries may stock some textbooks, so one can always look into that. They can also simply Xerox all the relevant pages they might need and, of course, often there is Craigslist.
