Processed Meats Declared Too Dangerous for Human Consumption"The World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) has just completed a detailed review of more than 7,000 clinical studies covering links between diet and cancer.1 Its conclusion is rocking the health world with startling bluntness: Processed meats are too dangerous for human consumption. Consumers should stop buying and eating all processed meat products for the rest of their lives."

I know that. Thankfully I don't eat processed meat every day and besides my momma is always watching over that shit so she knows (somewhat). I eat hot dogs every other week.

I think that that would one of the hardest choices, having the ovaries removed, but when you put it like the nurse has above, it really puts it into persepective.
The story below has come out in the media over here:

Elisha Neave's sad story sends vital warning, as family's cancer tragedy hard to fathom
In 2007, long before Angelina Jolie's preventative surgery, three sisters tested positive for BRCA2, a gene disorder that brings an 80 per cent risk of developing breast or ovarian cancer. Eldest sister Chrissy Keepence and middle sister Veronica Neave both acted quickly to have hysterectomies and their breasts removed. But Elisha, only 30 at the time, decided to wait to have more children - a decision that will cost her life. Now 34, Elisha is dying from a rare and aggressive cancer that started in her ovaries in March last year. Read: Angelina Jolie to have both ovaries removed Chrissy said the thought of losing her sister was heartbreaking, but she hoped telling her story would encourage others to act. "My baby sister has stage-4 fatal ovarian cancer - she never had the chance to act, she waited too long," Chrissy said. "I am so happy that Angelina Jolie has come out to make people aware. "If you're armed with knowledge, you can do something. We thought Elisha had more time - she was young and historically in our family the cancer didn't hit until the late 40s, but we were wrong." Chrissy said Elisha was hospital-bound, fighting with all her strength to prolong her life for 10-year-old son Jack. "Elisha has exhausted her chemotherapy and surgical options and is undertaking a new treatment," she said. "It is working for now, but she may have to travel to a German clinic that offers treatments not available in Australia." Elisha's is not the only cancer battle in the Neave family - the sisters' father Colin, lost his battle with liver cancer last week and their mother Claudette is undergoing chemotherapy for terminal bone cancer. Chrissy said it was not easy to deal with so much heartache but she drew inspiration from her mother. "My mother hid the severity of her illness from us while we were mourning dad and fighting for Elisha," she said. "I hope one day I will be as strong as she is." - My dad had to get one of his breasts removed due to cancer. However, it was decades later that he died from prostate cancer. So, my answer to your very relevant question is that some people choose not to wait around like a sitting duck. They decide to make a courageous decision that may or may not prevent cancer. However, in my dad's case, if that decision prolongs the life by decades, the decision was worth it and is priceless. Even if Angelina does succumb to some other form of cancer, it may make the difference between seeing her kids grow up or not.

I completely agree...And there are many many sites with the same info. Diet has a lot to do with it. This article was written in 2005 but you know how it works with our money money money society. It's perfectly legal for them to kill us as long as the shareholders are happy.
Processed meat consumption results in 67% increase in pancreatic cancer risk, says new researchConsuming processed meats increases the risk of pancreatic cancer, says new research conducted at the University of Hawaii that followed nearly 200,000 men and women for seven years. According to lead study author Ute Nothlings, people who consumed the most processed meats (hot dogs and sausage) showed a 67% increased risk of pancreatic cancer over those who consumed little or no meat products. But researchers failed to accurately identify the culprit responsible for this increased risk of pancreatic cancer, says one author. The true cause of the heightened cancer risk is the widespread use of a carcinogenic precursor ingredient known as sodium nitrite by food processing companies, says nutritionist Mike Adams, author of the just-published Grocery Warning manual at: http://www.TruthPublishing.com/GroceryWarning.html Nearly all processed meats are made with sodium nitrite: breakfast sausage, hot dogs, jerkies, bacon, lunch meat, and even meats in canned soup products. Yet this ingredient is a precursor to highly carcinogenic nitrosamines -- potent cancer-causing chemicals that accelerate the formation and growth of cancer cells throughout the body. When consumers eat sodium nitrite in popular meat products, nitrosamines are formed in the body where they promote the growth of various cancers, including colorectal cancer and pancreatic cancer, says Adams. "Sodium nitrite is a dangerous, cancer-causing ingredient that has no place in the human food supply," he explains. The USDA actually tried to ban sodium nitrite in the 1970's, but was preempted by the meat processing industry, which relies on the ingredient as a color fixer to make foods look more visually appealing. "The meat industry uses sodium nitrite to sell more meat products at the expense of public health," says Adams. "And this new research clearly demonstrates the link between the consumption of processed meats and cancer." Pancreatic cancer isn't the only negative side effect of consuming processed meats such as hot dogs. Leukemia also skyrockets by 700% following the consumption of hot dogs. (Preston-Martin, S. et al. "N-nitroso compounds and childhood brain tumors: A case-control study." Cancer Res. 1982; 42:5240-5.) Other links between processed meats and disease are covered in detail in the Grocery Warning manual. "Let love be your perfect weapon..." ~~Andy Biersack

I agree. As for why she did it? Many times by the time you DO find out you have it, it's already too late. "Let love be your perfect weapon..." ~~Andy Biersack

As a mother of an 11 year old girl I can understand her desire to be there for her children. You will do whatever it takes to see them through until there adulthood and that includes drastic choices. I also remember Farrah Fawcett who refused to have her colon removed. She kept looking for less drastic alternatives.
(As some of you may know, I made a drastic choice myself. When my daughter was 9 my sister nearly died of a bad lap band job. Her obesity nearly cost her her life, and the lap band put in place to save it also nearly cost her her life!!! I was at 250lbs, borderline diabetic, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and depression galore. I did something drastic - I left my daughter with my sister, moved very far away. My goal was to get my act together so that I could be a stronger mother who was capable of doing more then watching my daughter play from the sidelines. I have not seen her in 20 months and will be returning soon. I lost over 60 lbs, got my head together , my numbers down etc. I will be returning to at least be closer to my daughter and be a part of her life. She may end up staying with my sister. However I know that I am a far stronger person and therefor role model then the woman that I was. My depression is gone. I sleep about 7 hrs a day vs 12. People critisized my decision but I knew that getting my life together away from her was better than dying of a heart attack or suicide. I know it hurt her but had I died while she was still a minor, the pain for her would have been worse. It was a choice of the lesser of 2 evils). There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.
