To make a short story long...

WHY do some people tell the longest LONGEST stories? I have a family member that corners you and then starts up blahblah shake and you just can't get away.

Older people start getting all pedantic about little details too and I'm not sure why? My inlaws just about KILL each other if they disagree whether something happened on a Monday or a Tuesday :dead:

Why??? confuse

i think it's because they don't have a lot going on in their life

actually it kinda reminds me of something that happened to me once

it was a cold winters morning... i'd just put on my favourite pair of explorer socks.. the green ones that were still ever so fluffy.. i couldn't find my right shoe so i called out to my wife "hey honey i can't find my shoe do you know where it is?".. "look under the bed" she replied.. i did, and sure enough, bingo.. right shoe... so i put it on and headed out the door to embark on a new day, ready to take on whatever the world had to throw at me... little did i know a series of events were about to unfold that would have me reconsidering my very existence

as i walked down our driveway i tripped on a skateboard the kid next door had carelessly left in our driveway.. as i regained my balance, i actually landed on the skateboard and started rolling down the hill (it was a steep hill... why town planning hadn't leveled the ground when they built the area is beyond me... i remember old mrs johnson getting stuck it to the mayor at a council meeting over it... she even let a few f words fly... old mr johnson pretended to be shocked but i think he was secretly quite proud).. anyway... so there i was, rolling down the steep hill when all of a sudden a little green mazda came flying around the corner and nearly took me out... luckily my reflexes were sharp enough that i ducked and shimmied and swerved out of the way... barely missing old nanna holdworth's prize rose bush (she wasn't really my nanna... everyone in the town just called her that.. she kinda looked out for us and would make the nicest chocolate muffins i've ever tasted.. and boy did she love that rose bush... when mr holdworth passed away from a bad heart she had him cremated and his ashes were spread all around her rose garden... so you can imaging the guilt that would have overcome me had i gone skating through her dead husband).. i ended up going down william street at a pretty break neck speed

but suddenly something happened... a confidence came over me that i'd never known before... i'd barely even been on a skateboard before but i was really getting the hang of it... i felt like i could easily take on some steps, or even better.. a rail!

i positively motored along now... not a care in the world... swerving to and fro like a real pro, until i came to a stop at the bottom of a hill... i jumped on a tram to make the rest of my journey into work, when i noticed a strange bag sitting at the back of the tram... i wondered what was in it... maybe gold.. maybe marijuana... (actually that happend to me once when me and bradley bennett found a bag of buds of the floor of the pub as we left... we ended up going to the park and smoking up a storm on the benches... mick boliztky came and joined us just before the police arrived.. when they asked us our name mick gave a false name but the policeman remembered him from a previous run in.. it took a lot of sweet talking that night but they let us go.. God bless 'em).. i decided to look in the bag... it was empty... oh well.. so i got off the tram and went into the office.. at the door i was greeted by one of the receptionists, so i asked her how she was... she told me she had a cold that was really bothering her and she went on and on about it so yeah i feel ya

.

I'm like that. And the rest of the family.

We can't focus on a good story.

Fortunately, te inlaws who don't share our 'I get distracted along the way and tell you every detail where my mind is going', so they manage me, my dad and brothers to focus on the story and not the details.

I really, really, wished I could change this. I'm trying, but still sometimes I wonder off.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

My dad does this. I can understand that though, when your short term memory isn't what it used to be, you just can't remember who you told already!
