Wedge Sneakers

I'm going to be doing a lot of walking on my upcoming vacation and I'm looking for some somewhat comfortable shoes. I'm just not a sneaker kinda chick...but these sneaker wedges that have been around for some time are calling me a bit.

But I'm stuck between they're hideous (particularly the Velcro strap ones) and they are cool because give me the height I'm attracted to with a bit more comfort.

I bought this great new spring jacket:

And was thinking maybe these to wear with it?

If anyone could pull them off you could.

But yeah, I think they're pretty hideous in general.

I had a couple pairs of platform sneakers in the 90's. Looking back, they were hideous too. lol

That said, you can find comfy walking shoes that aren't sneakers. I have a few pairs of shoes that work well for that kinda thing.

I think you and I have different taste, though, so it's hard.

I have a few pairs of flats and boots that are just fine for walking around town. Depends on if you need support or not.

Otherwise I do something like this during the day:

OMG Im serious.

I bought these womens tuxedo pants from H&M with this red blue yellow and black on white french looking floral print and I wear them with my Surface to Air motorcycle jacket (black vintage look) and a pair of Red Wing boots.

Prints are in. Loud ugly ones.

Both. lol

But you'll rock 'em and still look hot and in trend rather than lazy and like you've sacrificed style for comfort.

I know the shoes I posted weren't you. lol That's why I said it's kinda hard.

The flats you posted are great, though. And like I said, you could pull off the hideous shoes and look awesome.

This is good news. Not that I'm super confident I could pull off flower pants (tho I'd try nod lol). But in general, there's hardly ever enough fun prints for men to play with in our wardrobes.

I see, I have these great pants that I am wearing today actually - that I wear with an oversize top, my black leather and black wedge boots.

I do really like print pants but the shoes need to be quiet when I wear them.

I have two pairs of wedge sneakers - both are about four years old. (Wow - look at me. Ahead of the fashion curve. lol )

One pair is by Geox - black suede and patent with narrow diagonal straps (yes, they're Velcro - but they don't look it).

One pair is Michael Kors - black perfed leather with white piping, stripes, laces and wedge. Strictly a summer "spectator" moment. And with a 3-1/2" heel, definitely not made for walking.

My main problem with some of these wedge sneakers is that when the wedge is hidden, it makes it look like you have a club foot. That is a look I'd rather not rock. lol

Floral print are my favorite, I look for certain kinds at resale shops. I like delicate floral print button ups. I also dig dots. I bought two of the same shirt from scotch & soda because it was the perfect dot print white on navy and the construction is great. (i usually wear the shit out of something then move on to the next thing, like a uniform)

Are they actually comfortable? I mean, worth doing a sneaker wedge over a shoe/boot wedge?

The Geox wedges are extremely comfortable. But Geox's big claim to fame is their ventilated sole (which keeps your feet cooler and drier), so that's not surprising. And for what they charge for them, they damn well better be comfortable!

I think the main thing that would make the wedge sneakers more comfortable than wedge shoes or boots is that the wedge sneakers would have padded insoles and softer footbeds - more like actual sneakers - and probably a slightly lower heel than you'd generally find in shoes or boots.

I buy Mark Nason boots and they are more comfortable than sneakers. They make ladies boots, but the only problem is a lot of the boots and shoes make you look like you are in the band Aerosmith or a video vixon. So, you have to research via Mark Nason.com and google to find the best style and price. I tend to find the best price on the web on major holidays.

Having Mark Nason Boots allows me to have style without giving up comfort. Just choose a style with a lower heel.

FYI: I'm a size 11 US size but in Mark Nason I'm always 10.5.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Your jackets are ace!

I like your flats too, but I find flats horrible to walk on. I rarely wear my flats for that reason.

I saw a girl rocking a pair of Timberlands this weeks.

I got inspired, and think about getting a pair myself. I don't know what kind of models they have in Canada, but some are nice design. And guaranteed solid shoes that are kind for long walks.

I also love Wolverine as a brand. I have one pair that I wear for more than 20 (!) years now. I have traveled around the world, went to harsh festivals all kind of adventureous stuf. And these shoes are still in great shape. They are my all time favorites. And they have one or two nice models that you can wear outside the walking trails.

Same goes for Nomad shoes.

Just a lot of words to say that I prefer brands that invest in quality of material and ergonomy that last longer than one season. lol

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

I love those jackets too! The wedge sneakers are ugly though.

My best friend has a few pairs, and loves the look of them, but she says they are not that comfortable to her for long walks.

If you will, so will I
