7 days of change

Please, please check this out. This company, Sevenly is awesome! They choose a different charity every week and they donate 7 dollars from every purchase and sometimes more to that charity.

Now, they are trying to get their own "reality" TV show where they can not only spread the word about so many wonderful charities but maybe change TV and people.

I love these guys!

check it out, please.

it sounds like a neat concept ...

I tend to watch - if i watch ANY TV .. i tend to watch things like Kitchen Nightmares ... or lately the "bar rescue" show which are kinda reality TV but i Like them for the "real " stuff and the "helping someone out" and how people change thruout the show ...

usually they have a somewhat happy ending ... smile

kinda like the show "intervention" altho ... i have a problem watching that sometimes with the people being so far gone that you just kinda say "who cares " .... confused confused

I was watching the network news last night (i rarely do that) but at the end they had a "feel good" type of report on about a kid who was sick and how he was all over YOUTUBE ... and i thought ... wow that is a nice positive report - - - - but ... of course ... is that news ???

I did watch all of this sevenly ... i will check them out more ...

i am always perplexed or i should say "interested" in these kinda things ...

as i get older i always think "charity " is something i would like to get more involved in and then I think "oh this is very original" and then i realize people like this are out there already doing good deeds ...

I think Ed burns(the actor) has a charity system kinda thing set up too .... forget what the name of it is .. but i get emails all the time from his system ...

i know what you mean ... when you post something you think is "cool" and ... it seems like noone reads it or comments ! neutral neutral maybe that means just you and i "get it ?" but maybe it just means that everyone else is TOO BUSY with life and we just are LOSERS for taking the time to comment etc ... biggrin biggrin cool cool

I can honestly say I never gave charity too much thought until I stumbled across a FB page of a little boy fighting cancer. Through him I found more and more and more. Lane Goodwin was a 13 year old boy who died in October. I don't know why, perhaps because he reminded me of my own son but.....Lane has effected me forever. I love that child yet I've never met him or his family. Childhood cancer awareness is MY cause. Childhood cancer is how I found Sevenly.

Yeah, maybe we just "get it" or maybe we're just "losers" lol either way, I'm ok with it.

That response reminded me of something similar ... in my life ...

I had a co-worker years ago .... who isnt in the same business today - but she had a child that had childhood cancer . She was local and when I heard , the person who told me about it said "she has a blog you can go to " etc ....

well over the course of a year or 2 - - - this was back in 2002 or so ... same kinda thing as you describe with your son - her daughter who had cancer was about the same age as my daughter who was born in 2000 ... so .... it was so sad to read ... yet hopeful ... etc ...

She did pass away and ... the last 30 days or so .... the posts were unbelievable ... i actualy copied alot of them - just to remind myself how beautiful (while suffering thru the most unbelievable things ) this girls writings were .... so positive ... like "we will get thru this " ...

wow, what a weird coincidence...perhaps that's why we're the only 2 to comment on this page.

I have read the most heart wrenching posts from parents of children with cancer. From the excruciating decisions they have to make ( pumping their child full of poison aka chemo) to holding them as they take there last breath...it's devestating. My mom keeps telling me to stop reading these things...that it's too hard. Although I know she means well, I just can't stop. It is hard I cry every day about it, but can you imagine how hard it must be if it's your child? I can't just stop, I have to try and do something...raise awareness, money....hope. whatever it may be.

46 children a day in the US are diagnosed with cancer and 7 die each day. sad It has made me reflect on my life that's for sure.

that is inspirational in so many ways ...

you do count your blessings and what you do have ....

I know what you mean - I feel that way alot that I should just not read about this stuff or alot of negative type articles ... u read ... and then of course i say to myself 'it is life ... good bad and real'.

so count your blessings and do what you can .. i commend ya !
