I was trying to figure out how that works exactly. I know you can watch movies,but are you able to watch tv shows,just like you would if you had cable?

I stream Netflix onto my TV with a Roku box.

They have a pretty limited selection, and no current TV shows. Well, they have some current shows, just not the latest episodes.

It sucks if you want to see something specific, but if you just want some stuff to watch it's more than enough for me. I don't often miss having TV.

Hulu has tons the shows. If you have Netflix & Hulu, you should be okay.

I haven't had cable in years. I have netflix, but it's not really a substitute.

I've never owned a television, but for a few years I did have TV tuner software on my desktop and subscribed to a basic cable package. I discontinued that two years ago and don't really miss it, but I do subscribe to Canadian Netflix (much more limited selection than the US model, I understand), and I generally feel I get my money's worth out of it.

I don't watch alot of TV,but there are certain shows that I like to watch regularly. Cable has become to expensive for me to currently afford,and most of the channels I did'nt watch anyway,so I was trying to find an alternative to Comcast,so I could still watch my regular shows,but not have to pay so much.

Seems like you can watch stuff online (like nbc.com) if it's regular TV.

If it's cable TV, then there is not much way around paying for it, unless you want to download it illegally.

I used to have netflix with it was a combo mail and streaming service. I cancelled when they split the two.

I pay for cable and I'm totally happy with it. Have been for years and years. The bundled package I have now, with nearly every channel available, is still only about $40 a month more than it would cost me to just have home phone and internet service. I love to cook, so I rarely go out to eat. I almost never drink anymore, maybe a few times a year. So if I take into consideration what a lot of friends spend on eating out and "partying" several times a month (or a week) and the $15 bucks I used to spend on netflix, $40 a month seems like a pretty minimal monthly entertainment budget. I mean, I know people who spend that every weekend, easy (sometimes Friday and Saturday), like it's nothing.

Now, when I had netflix streaming what I mostly used it for was to catch obscure, off the wall movies that I read about, or had conversations about with my geeky movie friends. I do miss that. But my regular tv watching is done through my cable.

I was curious about the Hulu streaming box too.

I bought a Blu Ray player from Wal Mart on Black Friday

and so far i have enjoyed playing music from my Flash Drive

more so than the Blu Ray movies. The music sounds awesome

with surround sound. The first one i bought the remote was

defective so i took it back and started to spend a little more and

get the streaming Blu Ray player but i thought i have a PS3 so if

i really wanted to get into the streaming thing i could use that.

NEVER??? I mean, as an adult or EVER even as a child???

My cousins never had tv until they were in their teens. They had a strict mother who valued education over everything. It's not that they couldn't afford TV- TV just can get in the way of education. I might add both of my cousins are well off (doctor/lawyer respectively). So, my aunt maybe onto something.

Sorry, I missed this question.

We had a TV in our house when I was growing up, and I watched the average amount that kids watch (too much, probably, in other words). But I never bought one once I was out on my own, and I guess I just got used to being without it. I did have a basic cable package run through my desktop for a few years, but I never watched it and I don't miss it now that it's gone.

I'm not a culture snob (I'm no Sextonseven) & I don't have highbrow tastes in the least, but I do think there's something to be said for the value and time you gain from not having TV in your life. I don't mean that as a judgement on other people & what they do with their time...just a choice I've made for myself over the years. I definitely think I read a lot more than I would if I had TV access, & in that sense at least I think I've gained, perhaps had a slightly richer life than I would have otherwise.

Not sure. I have an old TV so it doesn't matter to me, but it does claim "Hi def"
