My Happy, Geeky True Blood Moment Last Saturday I had the opportunity to meet the author of the Sookie Stackhouse book series, Charlaine Harris.
Mrs. Harris is funny, friendly and very gracious. She signed books and comics for us and let us take her picture.
Please ignore the geeky lady in the black shirt.
Sorry if the images are huge. I'm not great at this and any help re-sizing is greatly appreciated

awww :) how cute are you? plus, as someone who geeks on writers, i am happy for you. had a phone conversation and a few email exchanges with john irving (cider house rules, world according to garp, hotel New Hampshire, and so on) when i sought him out for clearance on using some lines of his in my plays. he was such a sweetheart. i also geeked the fuck out on christopher durang when i met him through a mutual friend. he looked a little nervous but appreciative and sweet. sometimes meeting your heros can be great, particularly when they are writers. they tend to be really mellow. I found out she was coming to UT something like 9 months ago. I marked on my calendar at home and work.

Last year, I did an interview with her and she was an absolute sweetheart. She's delightful.
My biggest geeky fan moment was the first time I met Sheila E. I could barely talk. My friend had to tell her we were huge fans, and then I finally regained my composure and probably said something stupid.

One of the audience members asked Mrs. Harris about characters from another of her book series showing up in some of the Sookie books. Mrs. Harris could not remember which book, but I did. I spoke up & told her, we all laughed and she thanked me. * * I'm firmly planted in denial | |
