OK man, I watched your vid.

Interesting...but not at all what I thought it'd be about considering the title.

Very valid statement, but I don't think it applies exclusively to the gay community. Being "pretty" or "handsome" can lead to vanity & shallow values (and prostitution) for ANYONE.

But yeah he makes an excellent argument for people to abandon their presumptions regarding "beautiful" people. That whole "grass is greener" mentality that tortures many of us less-attractive folk, especially in our teen years.

thumbs up!

Don't let the thread die.

To me his argument sounds flawed and makes himself look more insecure than the `beautiful` characters he portrays. So for you to feel better about yourself you have to find problems in others? confused

You think so?

I heard the story about the "cinammon" dude he was stalking ( lol ) and it seems to me like he just had one of those "moments" when he realized that the "perfect" person he was idolizing turned out to be quite imperfect inside.

shrug

Maybe you're right of course...maybe "cinammon" never gave him the time of day and he's ranting.

wink

Yes to me it sounded like 15 minutes of poor people yelling "money doesnt make you happy"

I understand the point he is trying to make "what matters is personality" bla bla...But the way he argues it is so stupid...I mean he kinda implied that people who go to gym have STDs and they are trying to cover it up with their fit bodies. WTF! lol

You dont have to try and belittle others in order to big yourself up. that is insecure to me

This is true, and why the video shows many traits of being insecure. The gym cover up thing is... well yeah that's silly as fuck lol

But what he say's about the pretty faces in the gay community i have experienced can be very true, but i am also interested cause the guy seem's to figure this out after getting someone he calls beautiful & perfect.

It would have been better if he discovered this on his own without geting to hangout with the hot guy.

Even though it has it's flaws, i still think it's a pretty valid message cool

As someone like me who feels like an outcast in the gay community.. i have experienced/met dudes like this who are attractive but that's it.. they use the look's for everything

I myself am 6'5, hairy & strong... i don't feel like i fit in with them small twinky types & i easily get annoyed by the gay guys that try to hard to act masculine. So i'm like blah on both fronts lol i just want to punch a lot of them in the face:P

I think he made some very valid points. Too many gay men, especially gay men of color, continue to judge based solely off of physical appearances. It's time that we really look at that and ask ourselves why? Why as a society in general, but especially in gay society, do we hold physical appearances in such high esteem?

I recently read some numbers on HIV amongst black men in the gay and bisexual community and the numbers are absolutely astronomical! I just don't understand because the information regarding HIV is out there, readily available for anyone who cares about their health. But, folks just get so caught up in looks and the hormones start a-flyin and WHAM! BOOM-A-LOOM! BAM! There you are having sex with someone you don't know jack about, other than they are handsome and have a great body. Not bothering to find out the character and morals of this person you are sharing these intimate moments with. Sometimes guys know up front that they are dealing with gigalos and still decide to take the risk just because he's just so great-looking! sigh I continue to question gay/bisexual men regarding their choices in sex partners and whether or not they are afraid of contracting HIV from some dude they just met? To this very day, in the year 2012, I am astounded at the amount of , "Well, he looked healthy" responses I receive. eek

With my experiences I just want a guy who's affectionate, not crazy and doesn't have issues. Don't care if he's overweight or unattractive.
