I was there last year for the first time since 1996, and I was there for UT FEOM 86-91. It has changed soooo much. It's longer a college town anymore. They even moved the damn airport. But anything along the I-35 corridor (UT ) still looked
expensive to live, and sixth street/ downtown/campus were still the places to have fun

Visionnaire

I heard that there's a really good Taco Bell down in Austin Texas.
But I'm not sure if they were referring that the food was of a better quality or that it had some kind of exceptional service.
Either way, I figure you can't lose.

I'm an hour from Austin and have family that still resides there. It's a cool place. There's always something going on from 6th st to concerts to plays to dining. We go quite frequently to events and the wife loves the shopping (domain, outlets, etc.). There's stuff for the kids as well. There's plenty of stuff for the adults too. Enjoy!

Start at one end of 6th Street. Proceed to the other end. There you go.

And, zip over to 5th Street and eat at El Arroyo.

Also, go to Threadgills. That's where Janis Joplin used to hang out.

Honestly, you cannot go wrong anywhere in Austin.

Also, they always have and always will love Prince in Austin.

Yep. He raises hay on it. It's got a big gate on the road leading into it with "P P" in script.

Now, this info is a few years old. He may have sold it by now. But the person that told me about it has a ranch right down the road from it. She said Prince liked going there because no one knew who he was.

I know where it is, but I've not actually been there.

He also owns (or owned) a house across the lake from me. But I have never seen him there or ever heard about him being seen around town.

...and have you invested in a good pair of high-definition telescopic binoculars that will allow you to focus on the house across the lake?

LOL, no.

It's a shame my parents passed away, because the house on the lake is five doors down from their old house.

I'd have given anything if my dad could have met Prince. They would have gotten along great.

So your dad (may he rest in peace) liked pancakes?

Pancakes are a food that's always better in my imagination than in reality.

The word conjures up images of fluffy, comforting deliciousness drowning in melted butter and maple syrup.

But I always feel sick before I'm done with one serving, and they sit in my stomach like a rock.

Such a ripoff.

mad

It's what you make it.

Thanks.

He liked pancakes just fine. But he was the coolest person I ever met. He would have out-cooled Prince, but in a way that Prince would have liked. They would have gotten along like gangbusters.

Austin sure has changed, it's turning into a mini Los Angeles... quite literally. A lot of younger scensters from LA are moving in, and then also a lot of celebs and bigwigs are moving to West Austin one of the richest concentrations of well off peeps in the U.S.

the Prince Jam of the Year tour date I saw in Austin was far more solid and paced than the two I saw in Houston.

But Prince loves Texas! He usually plays multiple dates and aftershows in Texas. In the past Tamar and the drummer/bass couple (Cora?) were from Texas. Morris Hayes used to play in a band in Austin long before he hooked up on the Prince train.
