The best naked men in the history of naked men. They were hairy from head to toe. Hairy dicks, hairy balls, hairy chests, hairy arms, hairy legs,....hair, hair, and more hair! And men in their 30s and 40s were considered more sexy than men in their 20s. It was the era of the real manly man and the bitch boys were out.

The thrill of finding a dirty magazine and thumbing through all those pages of naked women but only finding one naked man and from the sight of that one little picture, getting a raging erection at a very young age.

The best time in the history of music, the disco era.

Funk.

The Saturday morning cartoons such as Fat Albert, Scooby and Scrappy Do, The Flintstones/Captain Caveman Hour, The Yogi Bear and Friends Show, The Loony Tunes Hour, and also the Saturday morning shows that weren't cartoons such as Isis, Captain Marvel, Wonderbug, and Electro Woman and Dyna Girl.

The best TV shows ranging from action, to drama, to sitcoms, to music....All In The Family, The Jeffersons, Good Times, One Day At A Time, Welcome Back Kotter, Wonder Woman, The Bionic Woman, The Six Million Dollar Man, Charlie's Angels, CHIPS, Police Woman, Starsky and Hutch, Soul Train, American Bandstand, The Midnight Special, and lots lots more. TV galore!

The toys.....Slinkies, Connect Four, Monopoly, Hot Wheels Racetracks, Big Wheels, Bionic Woman, Six Million Dollar Man, and Wonder Woman action figures, Snoopy radios, Snoopy record players, ....even something as simple as getting a 64 pack of Crayola crayons and lining them up in rows on the floor and playing "school" with them.

Andy is a four letter word.

I was born in the 80's

but here are the only things of the 70's I miss about the 70's

a) 70's rock

b) 70's funk

c) men using cuban heels and beautiful (not stiff/predictable) suits

d) Woody Allen's early weird/madcap/brainy comedies (69-77), before he became a bad copy of Bergman/Capra...

e) sports stars being stars due to their successes and dedication, not because of their money/publicity contracts...

that's all

since I don't have personal/sweet/subjective memories of that decade, I have to say that I see the 70's as a very harsh/dark decade (no offense): Nixon's betrayal, Carter's innoperance, Brezhnev posing as a good guy and the world believing the farce, the fall of Saigon, Vietnam veterans being ignored, Roger Moore as 007 James Bond, street crime, rich pimps, granny cinematography, generalized drug-abuse (a legacy of the 60's), the fat/depressed/pseudo-republican Elvis, downbeat vigilante movies, a truckload of nihilistic/cheap Hollywood films posing as "high art", bad economy, ugly flat cars, a shitload of know-it-all/I-feel-so-blue singer-songwriters, many people dancing way too much without giving a damn about anything else, etc. ugh... confused

Just personal memories
My dad:

Cuddling with him in the mornings in his bed and he telling me stories about his childhood or he and I inventing stories together. Me showing him all the things I learned to do and he being so proud of me
My aunt spoiling me, but also teaching me a lot and giving me so much love
My big sister being my idol and me trying to imitate her in every thing I did lol
Playing in our garden, with my toys or with my pets and enjoying being able to read books
With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

You can make a long list of bad things for every decade. IMO the 2000's and beyond is more harsh and darker than the 70's ever were.

In no particular order:

1. Amazing music (I'm not going to get any more specific - there was so much good stuff)

2. McDonald's still cooked their fries in beef tallow - and blended their milk shakes individually.

3. Pepsi Light (Basically Diet Pepsi with lemon flavor - they haven't gotten it right since)

4. Yves Saint Laurent's Russian collection in 1976

5. Diane Von Furstenberg's iconic wrap dress

6. The Waltons (Corny as it seems now, it was an amazing show. I mean...the first five seasons were really well written. I still watch it in reruns.)

7. Coming home absolutely starving after gymnastics or cheerleading or play rehearsal, walking in the door - and smelling whatever amazing goodness my mom had made for dinner. (I wish someone would cook for me now. sad )

8. Going to Disney World in Florida right after it opened - and getting Grandma to go on Space Mountain with us. doh! lol

9. Modesty (The most revealing clothing was a midriff or halter top - and it was never worn by people who were too old or too young for it to be appropriate.)

10. Charles of the Ritz perfume (My first "designer" fragrance. It had a really wonderful, "powdery" quality to it that was just yummy.)

11. This Chanel ad:

12. Big honkin' cars. Not SUVs - cars.

13. It was before the advent of governmental "low fat, high carb" propaganda. Which meant almost nobody was fat.

14. Beer cans still had pull tabs.

15. A very special Oscar de la Renta dress touched

I picture is definately worth a thousand words

Even when people were bad in the 1970's (outside of the rise of the serial killer) everything still seemed so innocent

1.)Watching Fantasy Island

2.) James Moore James Bond of the 1970's. It was always a thrill watching those, parents really love James Bond movies

3.) Parents disco house parties

4.) Carrolls fast food
