Photographer tells story of doomed shelter dogs

Photographer Tou Chih-kang has been recording the last moments of canines at the Taoyuan Animal Shelter in Taiwan for two years. He has captured the images of some 400 dogs, most of which were pets abandoned by their owners. To him the work is distressing, but he's trying to spread a message of responsibility.

Dogs are amazing creatures.

I can't imagine my life without them.

People suck.

Great work by Mr. Chih-kang.

Great work.

I have said for many years that every pet owner that decides not to spay or neuter should have to voulunteer at an animal shelter.

It is hard work and makes you realise how these poor creatures live due to over population and lack of human responsibility.

All of the shelters in our county are full and euthenising healthy young animals due to lack of space.

Wake the fuck up humans!
