We started with the Cimarron parade at 9 AM, with Syd riding a horse. Then we went to the Maverick Rodeo in Cimarron, which is the coolest rodeo ever! Except for this guy:

[img:$uid]http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff311/RodeoSchro/Bulldisaster.jpg[/img:$uid]

I was just trying to get a picture of the bucking chutes against the mountains. I didn't even know there was a bull rider in the ring!

Then we went to Eagle Nest for THEIR parade, and Syd again rode a horse. But I out-cooled that!

There was a huge traffic jam of people trying to get out of town after the parade, so I pulled out my guitar and played a concert for the traffic jam! It was awesome! The cars were moving very slowly, so each car got to hear a minute or two of my sweet soulful singing.

Nap time now, but then back to Eagle Nest for fireworks. Happy 4th, y'all!

I went to the family cookout...

had papaya enfused rum

coquito

sangria

rum with pineapple

rum with ginger

rum with raisins and some dates or something

had some banana creamed rum

and some other liquor that was blue and they layered it with vodka and some other stuff that was red...

the drinks just kept coming...

did some jello shots disbelief ... ate lots of food and I was STILL sober enough to walk down to the beach IN THE POURING RAIN to see a wonderful display of very colorful firworks...

my only regret is not being able to snap pics, man I love Boston!

Hope you guys had an awesome 4th. whew thatnk god I don't do this often. eek

If I said the word rum that many times I'd be too drunk to walk anywhere. lol Cerebus is a lightwieght, though.

There was one quick round of gunfire around 9:30 while we were sitting outside (people ended up at my place - go figure). Sounded like two guns emptying their clips real quick. It just has a different sound than fireworks. The echo is different and the intervals between the sounds isn't as exact. But I'm pretty sure that was the only gunfire near by.

The bangs are still going strong, though. A lot of stuff going over the rooftops, too. Chinatown must have had a lot of good stuff this year.

I live in an interracial neighborhood. It warms my heart to see black and white men both not care about safety and shoot their guns in the air.

I will never understand why people need to shoot off their guns during Independence Day celebrations.

I thought that is why people bout fireworks and sparklers. shrug

Oh no... my cousins make their own... moonshine, crap.

The pineapple rum was made by an old family friend, but the other bottles had fruit in it... some stuff was white liquor, other stuff was brown and spicy.

My aunt made the ginger rum (plain huge jug with tons of ginger in it) feeling ill

and she also made the papaya rum. I LOVED that one. eek I even ate the papaya after...

redface

Rum thankfully agrees with my body. whew I feel great this morning after drinking all day yesterday. I couldn't do that with any other liquor. We only had two jugs of Bacardi, that we used for mixed drinks.

Not much of a holiday person - just another day to me. But I do enjoy the day after July 4th, reading about the idiots who blew their fingers off playing with fireworks.

I ended up going to a friend's house for a cookout and general swelter. Had one vodka and tonic, then switched to Diet 7-Up. I was home by 9:30 and got a good night's sleep.

And I remembered to come to work today, which is major - since yesterday totally felt like Saturday. lol

The ginger rum was a light yellow... it reminded me of pee. lol I tried it, yeah um... that shit was nasty. I guess it would be good for marinating meats for a BBQ w/ lime on meats. But straight up as a shot, YUCK! It was like some potent cough syrup.

The creamed rums were divine! Surprizingly they weren't too thick to drink in the heat of the day. So good! The pineapple rum was clear and so was the papaya... sooooo good OMG.

They had 3 different dark rums... one with raisins and cinnamon YUM, one with dates and tamarind YUM and one with just figs or dates? That one was good too...each rum was in some unrecognizeable bottle.... I never even heard of half the labels. Most were homemade though.

My family is dangerous around folks since they like to get folks drunk too much. Plow folks with drinks I never even knew existed. lol

The rain last night was sooooo nice. We got drenched! Your moon looked nicer, in Boston it was really yellow but not a red hue like the picture you took! love

Here's my Under The Cherry Moon pic from last night;

It was blood red for maybe 20 minutes...then it hid behind clouds...by the time it emerged it was yellowish then turned pure white.

That was my favorite pic of the night.

I would have been so heartbroken if I'd of been at the Bay, I'm the biggest kid when it comes to fireworks.

All of them going off at the same time. A total of 15 seconds.

However, on the second pic...the building with the red tower isn't the Freedom Tower. I think it's Bank of America or something. The Freedom Tower would be to the far left of the Empire State Bldg...not in the pic.

Here it is from a different angle earlier that night;
