Yvette Wilson of "The Parkers" and "Moesha" dies at age 48

Wilson, who also co-starred in such memorable films such as “House Party 2,” “House Party 3,” and ”Friday,” was not only battling cancer but has also been plagued with kidney problems and needed kidney transplant as well.

Friend Jeffrey Pittle, a stage 4 cancer survivor himself, created a website for Wilson, so that people can donate money for not only her medical needs but also help with any transportation costs that are associated with her getting to various medical facilities. To date, the site had raised $13,599 of the $25,000 they were seeking — or 54 percent.

As previously reported by NewsOne.com, Wilson is the fifth tragedy that has occurred from the “Moesha” show whom many say is jinxed. Star Brandy Norwood struck and killed a woman with her vehicle. Merlin Santana, who played Moesha’s first boyfriend, “Ohaji,” was only 26 years young when he was shot dead in California as he sat in the passenger seat of a car. Comedian Bernie Mac, who had the recurring role of “Uncle Mitchell” and was Andell’s boyfriend, died in 2008 from complications of pneumonia. The ever-popular “Hakeem,” Moesha’s sidekick who was played by Lamont Bentley, was killed in a car crashmore than 6 years ago

This is so tragic. She was very funny. So many things have happen with the cast of Moesha its eerie.

No wonder Monique has taken the opportunity to get her weight off and be more healthy. U wouldn't recognize her now. She is so fit & trim..

‘Moesha’ Star Yvette Wilson Loses Battle With Cancer

Last month Yvette Wilson, who we all loved as Andell Wilkerson from the ’90s shows ‘Moesha’ and ‘The Parkers,’ reached out to the public hoping to get financial help for the mounting medical bills stemming from her Stage 4 cervical cancer. She needed $25,000 by the 1st of June to undergo proper treatment to go up against the cancer which came back “very aggressive,” as she expressed.

It’s with a heavy heart we report that yesterday evening, Yvette lost her battle and passed away.

Yvette’s good friend and ‘Moesha’ co-star Shar Jackson was tweeting for the last few days, asking for her followers to send out prayers, however last night she let the world know that Yvette had passed.

Everyone plz send prayer and light to my sister and best friend Yvette Wilson…..

Oh god….. My heart is soooo unbelievably broken ….

I wanna thank all my tweeties for their prayers but god has chosen to take my sister Yvette home.. …

Aw dayum! sad Poor Yvette. RIP. rose She was so cute and funny in Friday and Poetic Justice even though her roles were small.

48 just seems to young to die but she had all those other health problems too. Sad, really sad.

I didn't even realize that so much bad fortune came to others on the Moesha . Shar Jackson didn't die but she had all that other drama. Jinx aint even the word.

I had no idea she was even sick. I love her character Andell. She also did a little bit of stand up.

I wonder if she was still close with Brandy? Brandy coulda gave her the 25k for treatment..

*Actor Jamie Foxx and singer Lauryn Hill are among the scores of celebs who are paying tribute to late actress Yvette Wilson, who lost her battle with cervical cancer on Thursday.

Taking to Twitter, Foxx writes, “God bless u Yvette Wilson. Tears in my eyes. Keep God laughing”, and comedian Marlon Wayans adds, “Yvette Wilson always a sweetheart…Need a moment. Y’all join me in my twitter moment of silence respecting a beautiful funny lady & friend.”

*Yvette Wilson’s sudden death threw a lot of us for a loop.

Many haven’t seen much of Wilson on their tv screens and movie screens.

But that was due to the stage 4 cervical cancer which took her life.
