I usually have "no sweets" weeks anyways... occasionally I'd break it and eat an ice cream cone. I prefer that over cake.

I like sweets but I'm not an addict.

Yeah, I'm not a big cake fan, either. I'd rather just eat the frosting. boxed

I'm not addicted to sweets, but it's easy to take in more than you intended when they have that stuff sitting out all the time.

My approach to sweets is actually funny. Sometimes when there's tons of ice cream and cake, I simply don't touch it. I don't know why. There's only been a few times I've decided "I'm gonna eat this" and get it. But only a few times.

Did you let your doctor know that you were using alcohol, cigarettes, cocaine and ecstasy during your pre-conception and early pregnancy?

Did you have your baby yet?

Yep I have 3 very healthy beautiful kids! This was 9 years ago, and I've never touched any of it again apart from one cigarette I found gross, and very occasional drink. I didn't want to be that kind of mum! I don't get how I had the willpower to go cold turkey on all that and yet I'm a complete sugar junkie!

Wow.

clapping

That's wonderful. Shit, I'd say let yourself have the sugar! lol

Thank u!
I'm not sure a handful of butter toffe popcorn for breakfast is a good example to my kids! Plus I'm sure it gives mood swings! Anyone else get sugar crash mood swings?

Have you ever tried Truvía? It's a blend of stevia and erythritol (a natural sugar alcohol). Don't know how it might affect your allergy - but since Truvía is a blend, it might be better.

Raw stevia (powdered) is like a VERY sweet mint. Its also a member of the ragweed family. :sneeze:Found this out AFTER I bought it. disbelief

@ Morningsong and Punkmistress... Truvia has and aftertaste to me and so does all those other artificial sweeteners (Slenda, SweetNLow, Nutrasweet) and I hate that. I could never drink anything diet because of it. Its gross to me. I need a clean finish.

So I use raw sugar to try to be healthier... coffee does my asthma good, but tea does nothing for me and I take tea with no sugar at all.... unless its black tea and the powdered raw Stevia works fine with that weirdly enough.

I have powdered honey I may try... it tastes weird though, I am afraid to put that mess in my coffee.

I may just need to get oily with it and buy half n half.... if it ain't one demon its another I'm telling you.

lol

Has anyone tried powdered honey? Genesia? Any other foodies in the audience? Anyone ? Bueller?

Wait! Uh, powdered honey? Nope never heard of it, doesn't sound all that appetizing either. I get kind of grossed out a bit when it crystalizes in the bottle. I started to mention Agave sweetner, but calorie wise it's the same as sugar, but I understand it doesn't give you a blood sugar level spike. I bought some once and my son used it up so I didn't get much except to use it in tea a couple of times. So I guess that means it was pretty good if he used it up, but it can be a bit costly.

Wow I'd love to try that agave stuff! I wonder If its available here down under?
It's the sugar spikes that bother me most! I hate the hypoglycaemic mood swings and the mid afternoon slumps!

I wish they'd make patches like nicorette ones but for sugar addicts!

I will keep to the raw sugar (sucanat ) in my coffee.

I am out... I messed up today, after my son's 5th grade graduation.... I went into one of those little fancy gourmet chocolate shop. I ate chocolate covered bacon truffles covered in gold dust today, among other pieces.

Bacon tastes good with dark chocolate.... boxed I will repent tomorrow.... after my coffee.

I think it is important to indulge some times. I find when I tell myself that I cannot have something sweet, my mind get fixated on it and it gets worse.

I love dark chocolate and I always keep a bar of 85% dark chocolate in the fridge. One some peice is usually enough to cure my craving.

I have to admit that bacon and dark chocolate does not sound good to me.

Put them in a white Walmart shopping bag and headed to the dumpster.

Saw that my skinny neighbor's door was open and poked my head in to offer her the cookies.

She gladly took them, saying she needed to gain weight.

I am now eating a salad.

I am 50 yrs old and should know myself better than to bring home those damn cookies. Ate over a row of them in a day!

It's not sweets making my ass fat because I barely eat them. It's stuff like Mexican and Italian food. I love it. I swear, cheese must be my favorite food because all my favorite dishes contain cheese in it. lol

I eat cheese all the time. It isn't fattening - as long as you're not putting it on french fries and other starchy stuff.

Oh, I love it on pizza, enchiladas, tacos, fajitas, lasagna, fettacini alfredo, various pastas, etc. Hell, I even like the cheese Rotel dip which is just straight up melted cheese itself with Rotel in it.

Therein lies the problem. lol

Cheese (like all fat) is self limiting - you can only eat so much of it before it becomes sort of revolting. (Think about it - would you ever sit down and drink a cup of olive oil?) It's only when you wrap it around a potato (french fries) or dough (pizza, pasta, etc.) that it feels like you can eat it forever.

I am going to try to get on board with this no sweets thing. I can always substitute french fries or some form of potato in it's place. I know starch and all....But, there is love and then there is true love of potato. Just saying.

Lately its been this honey a local bee keeper makes that is crystalized just right so its smooth and spreadable, its then flavored with cinnamon... I then spread it on cinnamon graham crackers... ok, i used to spread it, now Ive just gone to dipping... But I havent had any for 3 days! biggrin

Tina, if you can hold yourself to just a bite of something sweet, you're doing fine. But, yeah - dipping graham crackers in honey is a little beyond "just a bite." lol

Nothing for me this week - so far. And it's been tough because I have an audition tonight. (I'm not a total stress eater, but I do go for the chocolate when I'm feeling keyed up.)

Hoping to make it to Friday, when I will reward myself with a raspberry vodka and lemonade after golf. drool
