Dr. Oz: Helpful and insightful doc? Or just a big ole fad?

Well what do you think? I know some women who swear by Dr. Mehmet Oz, watch his show like clockwork and believe everything he says, but I also have heard some people say that they feel he's just a big ass phony with a gimmick.

What do you think? hmmm

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I don't trust anyone who calls themselves a doctor who has a show on TV: Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil, Dr. Pinsky, etc...

I think the majority of the things he says, has some validity to it. When he talks about things like coconut water, certain vegetables and spices, and their benefits, my mom will say that he is right on point. As a girl, who grow up on a tropical island, she had access to these things and they do have a health benefit, especially the coconut water. I have also tries some of the herbs that recommends, that help in weight loss and they seem to be working, (I have lost about 5 lbs). So, for me he has been helpful.

I could deal with him if he wore regular clothes instead of smocks all the time.

He's an old person with a doctors outfit on. Oprah had something to do with his spot on television.

Indeed they do. Dr. Oz is legitimate, and is not misleading.

Believe me, I want words with the good "doctor". mad

His advice isn't as helpful as it seems. Especially to elderly patients.

This student pharmacist does not approve. hmph!

I've read his articles, they seem okay enough. Never had a chance to really watch him on tv though, except the one time he explained how hemorrhoids come about lol

I watch his show several times during the week, what does he say on his facebook page and on the show that's terrible? Just curious.

He's brilliant.....as a heart surgeon. Some of the other stuff he discusses it a bit outside his realm. Anyway, he co-authored "You On A Diet" which is pretty good and he was a doctor to Oprah. I doubt she would hire a quack. Plus he fine as hell! wink

I don't follow him on FB but a few helpful hints he gives on eating snacks are good. The only thing I don't like about him is that he uses scare tactics too often with the "real age" thing.

"Oh you weigh _____, and are obese and your numbers are off the charts, you will die because your real age is 100 years old even though you are 35."

He ages you by lifestyle, I think this is why Oprah became a fan of his.

Shit Oprah got big paper! If we age by our bank accounts, that woman is 17 if she a day. lol

highfive Me too. He would touch her every time he came on the show - rubbing her thigh and shit. They seemed a little more than friends.

OMG, well, I don't blame her, Dr. Oz is sexy! But, I dunno, that would be quite odd. I'm sure she had an attraction to him on some level for sure. I get good advice from her show lightyears more than anything I ever saw on Dr. Phil.
