do you see the doctor often?

How often and why? I barely used to go, but now it's often. For refills, therapy and if I think I've injured myself, which turns out to be nothing most of the time lol

I have been neglectful of my asthma. I used to go in every three months for refill and asthma/allergy checks.

Now I usually go once or twice a year... I never get any meds for my asthma now. Just one inhalor a year which I usually end up throwing out because it expires.

I am due for another check up soon. The time flies.

These days not often, though I’m due for a pap so I need to get that scheduled.

There are times it’s more frequent. When I have bouts of depression it’s more often to get meds regulated and to see my psychologist.

I am currently off meds and not in therapy and doing swell. woot!

I used to avoid it as much as possible. I had a bit of a phobia of doctors redface Then I started having some serious health problems. I was probably at my different doctors' offices more in the last 2 years than all the other years of my life combined lol I go very regularly now.

Not often. I have yearly tests, but apart from that I try to stay away. And occasionally I have to go get a repeat prescription of cream I use on my hideous face. If I get any niggles in the meantime, I try to save them for those essential appointments.

I used to go more often, when I needed to lose weight and lower my blood pressure. Now that I have lost the weight and lowered my bp, I only go as needed biggrin

yeah I get nervous too, but I've seen different ones and there are two I'm sort of comfortable with, one of which I hope I can make my regular one, though her hours don't work with mine very well. And I know what you mean, the amount I used to go in a decade alone is more in one single year haha the funny part is I got sick more then and not as much now, I mostly go cause it's related to mental health and any tiny things to come along. There are other things I want to get checked out but feel nervous about, so I need to get around to it soon.

I should go more often than I do. After I moved, I had .to change gastrointeroligists and I have yet to encounter a good one/one im comfortable with, so I just shy away instead. I've been relying on patchwork, temporary symptom control instead of addressing the actual disease. I might be able to get this colostomy situation resolved.

^ I think I've been needing to see one of those for ages cause I have re-occuring gas problems at times, but then people think I'm a hypochondriac cause I'm too young for all this, then I start believing I'm that too neutral

Exactly. Pain problems are another one, and I suffer from that too, it's a miracle I don't have FMS or something, though there is always some kind of pain or "numbing" somewhere and I turn out okay. But I guess cause I look like a kid when I'm not far from 30 means I'm invincible, not anymore. I've really started to change how I eat and everything cause of what runs in the family.

LMAO!!! I love that! Family thinks it's psychological too, I believe there may be truth to it sometimes cause when I'm upset, sometimes I don't feel emotions, my back or chest hurts and I'm bedridden, or I feel nauseated though it's on and off and not often. I'm a bipolar disorder sufferer so yeah....my moods are messed up anyway though the changes will work overtime I think. I've battled the spending addiction for now and am cleaning up the messes I've made slowly, so I'm hoping I can keep it up this year, and know that I'm doing better than a lot of people have though it was so hard when I wasn't medicated and dealing with what upset me.

Every six months so I can get my refills on my prescriptions. I dread it every time because I know I've fucked up on my eating and I keep promising to do better each time I go but never end up keeping my promise. I eat any and everything I want for six months and then about a week before my doctor's appointment, I call myself eating cholesterol free shit all week hoping to alter the tests and it never works. lol

No, I hate going to see the doctor. And most of the time I can pretty much tell what's wrong with me and why just because I feel it and there's hardly anything a doctor could tell me about my body that I don't already know and feel myself.

Plus, I avoid medicine as much as possible.

I was like you for a really long time. I was trying to avoid medicine too after it fucked me up, but as a result, I was forced to go back on them sad

I go up to four times a month and if the whole lot of you want to avoid such a situation, take care of yourselves and visit the doctor at least once every six months.

Chronic conditions are a bitch and I had asthma ALL my life.

I just got sick and tired of going.... there's gotta be a better way. Too many damn meds and my doctors didn't care if my liver got torn the hell up from all the meds.

But you are right.... I need to get back on my regular schedule of check ups because as a person ages, one can never be too careful.

sigh

My suggestion is to do research on other treatments for you asthma and get a doctor willing to try them. Knowing you, you've probably already done this tho. sigh

Yeah I did, tried some old school remedies my mom told me to.

I eat gross prickly pear and aloe vera... its slimy and nasty, but it HAS to be from the plant and fresh. It is the BEST thing I have tried so far.

I also use it in conjuction to the steroids... but those steroids fuck up the liver. I need my liver.

So I use as little as I can and do more to NOT set off my asthma.

I wish there was a better way than all these damn drugs Ivy I swear, its too expensive and I feel like shit.

I am better now than I have ever been though, the medicines are better and I found a decent home cure anti-inflammatory to keep me in check.

It still sucks though. sigh

The doctors look at me like I am crazy, when I tell them what I learned but I think they would pay more attention if I had lab results and pills they could push.

hug Same here.... I wish I could wave a wand and make you healthy, but I am glad you are a fighter and stay strong.

I guess we are made stronger by our struggles.... I appreciate every day I forget I have asthma.

I am glad the summer is here! sun
