a) I don't sympathise with any rapists, molesters, murderers etc. I am by no means "saintly" nor have that opinion of myself (and conversely it doesn't make me a criminal either) nor do my opinions make me better than you, nor you better than me.

b) by not verbally wishing a colourful and bloody and imaginative end to the perpetrator's lives (on a public forum) and by objecting to those who DO, does NOT make me any less compassionate to their victims. Only problem is it takes too long with all these damn appeals. We never kill anybody, just spend money on legal fees. You start killing people and you start saving money and deterring criminals. If I were a criminal, I wouldn't fear a death sentence because I know i would outlive the actual date of execution....unless I lived in Texas. Now Texas knows how to kill people. Damn they don't play.
