I use to get the sleep paralysis a lot, but it only lasted an instant not long enough for panick to set in, just long enough to be aware of it. I also use to wake up feeling like I was falling, but that hasn't happened in a while either. The most that happens now is loss of preception, that sometimes takes a minute to get reoriented back to reality.

A few nights ago I was sleeping and then suddenly it felt like someone was bothering me. Like getting all up in my face, pushing on my back...just fucking with me.

I do not know if I was half asleep at this point but I'm pretty sure I sat up and said, "Stop it, leave me alone". I remember being angry, not scared but really pissed off. But I also clearly remember thinking that something was around me...messing with me but I saw nothing. I was definitely alone.

It actually continued, I swear I could feel pressure on my back, my chest, and that feeling of someone trying to irritate me.

But eventually I feel back asleep. I'm positive I was not dreaming but I am not positive that I was fully awake.

It hasn't happened since.

I'm emotionally drained and very stressed at the moment and I wonder if my mind is playing serious tricks on me.

I have never believed in ghosts and still don't but I'm telling you...this shit felt so real...I was almost convinced something was actually there.

That's why the ghosts were fuckin' with ya! To teach you that they are real. If not ghosts, then demons but that would be even more creepy. Good thing you told them to stop and leave you alone.

I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

that's the thing with callin this "sleep paralysis"

in bein 'paralized' you don't move AT ALL...

when you have 'a witch on your back' you're are movin

and bein PUSHED BACK DOWN. so when you're AWAKE

with this pessure on you then you attempt to move the

weight from your body by turnin and as you get turned

you are pressed back into the original position...

THAT AIN'T PARALYZED that's fuckin scary eek

clinicist (non-believers, skeptics) would have you think that you were sleepin the whole time

no matter how long you were awake, rememberin everthing you

did all the way to the time that you got away (ran to another part

of the room, then looked back to see NO-ONE)

lol i may laff but i'm dead serious..

Night terrors? There is a term for it, but it escapes me right now. It could happen as part of PTSD too though I don't want to say it's that either and give ideas. If it keeps happening, see a sleep specialist. Do you talk or yell in your sleep often and feel like you're being controlled too?

So scary! Yes, there is definately a spiritual world. Your story reminds me of a something that happened to my ex mother in law, she awoke to find a dark figure leaning over her, she said something about Jesus and it disappeared. She's not the type to tell stories, in fact, she's never even told any ghost story or anything of that nature. She said after it happened she went into her living room and her lights all began flickering, then some crazy shit started happening with her appliances in her kitchen. She's very spiritual so she said a prayer and then just went back to bed. It never happened again and that was the end of it.

You must have been scared Paintedlady! eek

I was scared, but acted as if everything was OK in the morning. The only reminder besides a minor burn was that damn picture on the floor. The kids woke and saw the picture on the floor and I was like "Don't touch it!"

I left that frame on the floor in that spot for like 3 days and finally got over it and just hung it back on the wall. I felt like a total weirdo and glad it was over. I just thought that I should pray more and read my bible more after that.

I got annointing oil and went on and said protective prayers over my kids and home. Everything was cool after that, never happened again. That was about 7 years ago.

I seriously think I would pop a headful of grey hair if that ever happened again. shake

I'm telling you, prayer works.

To all who have experenced visits...

I've never experienced any of these situations, but I am a firm believer that there are "others here with us".

There are no "evil demons", just confused, lost, and sometimes angry souls.

If it happens again, dont be afraid (you're afraid because we've all been scared shitless by ghost stories).

Say, in a nice voice, "Are you okay?" Show kindness and smile. They may still visit you, but they will be much gentler with their approach.

No, I'm not kidding. I was told this by my Creole mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. Believe me...they are well versed in all that spooky shit.

I don't believe for one second that it was a ghost or something like that...even as real as it all seemed.

I'm positive it was some kind of weird mental state I was in, most likely brought on by stress. I seem to have lost my ability to cope with stress now and it's showing itself in different ways.

Their job is the same as the pentacostal preacher's job at my mom's church when I was a kid. He had my mom scared shitless... she got over it though. Had us wearing veils and skirts to the floor for a year.

How on earth could any sane person even think about implying this has something to do with "angry, confused souls visiting" or whatever kind of similar garbage? There is absolutely no reason to think that and there are hundreds of reasons which support that our scientific research and reasoning is actually very reliable and as close to "the truth" as anything can be.

Is it boredom? Is it lack of education? Is it sheer stupidity and unability to grasp how logic works and that logic can not simply be disregarded?

One side of my family was also always very superstitious and talking about bullshit like that, but once I was old enough and smart enough to use my own brain to look for reason in this world, I knew how to handle the stuff. Unless you're 8 years old, you should too.

You know, you can disagree with people without insulting them, Dave. Really. In spite of your defense for all that is rational and reasonable, I find it incredibly immature and I dare say I'm disappointed in your stinging intolerance towards others' spiritual beliefs and paths that ring true to them.

If you disagree with another's point of view here regarding night terrors and their relation to the "spirit world", that's fine. But please pull back on the would-be omniscient, belittling attitude that insinuates such people are bored, lacking in education, or sheerly stupid. We all have our own individual spiritual walk in this life (or lack thereof), and should be free to discuss how it relates to us (or not) in scenarios where people ask for imput here without casting aspersions on or marginalizing each other. butterfly

Simply because you are convinced in the superiority of your "logic" doesn't necessrily negate someone else's belief.

You haven't experienced anything in your life that would cause you to believe in anything that you cannot touch/smell/feel or explain by scientific formulas. Fine good for you.

When you not only dismiss but outright disparage someone else's point of view or beliefs, then that my friend sets you on a nasty path.

You are human, and are flawed just like anyone else. Accept that fact and don't turn your nose up when confronted with something that you don't believe in...in the end you'll be a better person overall.

Imagine how you'd feel if you opened your mind and were confronted with something unexplainable by science?

You are right, my reply was off limits and too harsh and I apologise for that. It may be due to the unbearable beliefs of some of my family members (who tried to convince me of that kind of stuff and belittled my logical thinking at a young age and didn't even listen to me) that I am so intolerant towards these kind of things.

I shouldn't have used such rude words. Still, this doesn't change the fact that I simply can not understand how someone can fall for these things and truly believe in them, with the world of information literally being at our fingertips...
