Does anyone here suffer from or know someone who suffers from extreme paranoia?

Like that was actually diagnosed or hospitalized for it?

Did you or they take any antispychotic meds? What were they? Did they seem to help?

I guess basically whatever you know about it.

I've never been diagnosed, but I'm extremely paranoid.

It doesn't bother me, but it probably gets out of control at times. We deal with it well.

I think we can all agree that he gets on all our nerves. I mean, why does he even hang around here for?
I think we all should just point & laugh at him until he leaves us all alone.

Jokes aside. I've come across seriously paranoid people on this site. In the search box, type chemtrails, 911 and alien abduction. Eh voila!

I have paranoid tendencies for sure. Though I have been hospitalized, it wasn't specifically for being paranoid although I did speak about fears that I knew were irrational too, and was put on beta blockers at the time though I'm not on those right now.

My cousin who is schizophrenic keeps going off her meds and is then convinced the government is plotting to kill her via ordinary daily stuff, like the handles of shopping trolleys. She is always being hospitalized for that sad the worst though was her animal hoarding cry

That would be helpful, thanks!

Funny people here. lol rolleyes

Anyways, anyone dealing with this on either end. Is it a burden to the people around you. Do you go off the deep end one minute at least as it seems to other people, but you are 100% sure of yourself. But then the next you feel totally crazy?

there was a time when i tryed to explain

to the world how much pressure i was under

because of who i was, but no-one seemed to listen

esspeacially those closest to me which resulted

in my not bein able to trust those who my life

had been entrusted to for safe keepin

which in the end was a good thing because

it was them who were in the best position to

do me harm and my distrust of them is the reason

that i'm alive today... nod

I've been feeling like I want to explode lately. Like, one minute I'll be fine and then the next I feel OVERWHELMED with desperation to just lose it. I can't even explain it, and it's been coming on for several months now. I tried to express my feelings into words to someone, and I guess they didn't understand, and they kind of made me feel stupid for complaining. Like, I said, they just didn't understand and now I wish I wouldn't have said anything. I wasn't trying to complain. I just don't know HOW to make myself feel better or to control my crazy emotions. I dunno. It's hard to explain.

I was very paranoid this weekend and did some bizzare things. I think I did something silly with my meds by accident one night and should have taken it.

You're really good at recognizing and naming your paranoia, though.

Most paranoid people suck at that, and make everyone around them crazy because they believe their paranoid thoughts to be absolute reality.

It's what you make it.

Drugs. Anyone who is extremely paranoid is probably high. Of course there are people who's mind's aren't whole but the vast majority fall under the drug category.

hmm

What are you basing that assertion on?

I disagree, btw.

Most clinical paranoia is organic in nature, whether due to trauma (physical or emotional) or a pre-existing mental illness.

I have known relatively few mentally ill people and COUNTLESS addicts. I am basing it on my experience but I don't think I'm off the mark.

Your experience is, as you say, skewed strongly toward drug addicts.

I've known and worked with addicts and the mentally ill, and have also read studies and attended workshops taught by psychiatrists and doctors. From what I have learned, the primary cause of paranoia doesn't seem to be drug use. In fact, many drug addicts end up addicted because they began self-medicating troublesome symptoms of mental illness. In those cases, it's difficult to figure out which came first.

It's what you make it.
