Rare Keenen Ivory Wayans and Arsenio Hall clip from 30 years ago.

Wow, this was real early in their career, 1982 seems to be the year.

Not bad 4 his 1st time out.

I've always though Ivory was a better writer than performer.

I think he's a good stand-up. Eddie Murphy said he was funny.

While in New York, Wayans appeared at the famous comedy club, The Improv, and met comedian Eddie Murphy, who declared, "I thought I was the only funny black guy in New York. Now I see there are two." In 1987, he collaborated with Murphy in the writing of the film Eddie Murphy Raw. While working at The Improv, he also met writer and director Robert Townsend. In 1987, he collaborated with Townsend on the motion picture Hollywood Shuffle

In 1982, comedy seemed to be different. Even with Richard and Redd around, comedy didn't change until Eddie Murphy Delerious came out the next year. That's when all those Def Jam era comics started popping up.

If you look at Keenen, Arsenio, Robert Townsend, their stand up was totally different from Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, who were products of Eddie Murphy post Delerious.

Damon was a more natural stand-up than Keenen...or any of the other Wayans.

True, I think Damon is one of the top stand ups ever. I'm not too sure how long Keenen was a stand up? I'm not too sure he stopped around the time Eddie quit? But Keenen was pretty huge in the early 80s' (on the road at least.) He performed his stand up on Johnny Carson and Johnny liked him so much he asked him to the couch (rare for stand ups.)

fuck keenan, arsinio, robert, dl, and qwite a few of them other

non comedians, i remember ajai wushisname a while back.

he started out funny then got lost tryin to do 'upliftin' comedy

if one cannot stay true to the roots of the people, then fuck 'em.

it's like the 'black panthers' who took jobs for 150,000 a year

to forget whut the fight was about, that's where we get the term

SELLOUT or the new 'tom'

PAUL MOONEY has stayed true to black people (niggas)

and said fucka negroe too, and it hasn't hurt him a bit.

he just doesn't get mainline work as much as a sellout would.

this is the POINT

ice t

snoop dogg

do you think they don't concider themselves pimps

because they do kid shit now? or do you believe

that they have taken it to nother level, much like the

new kan?

you don't have to sell out to win...

fuck'emall edit

Come on King, I don't think they're sellouts. Especially a guy like Robert who hasn't been in the public eye since the late 90s.

Robert was on board with two black owned TV stations, MBC and Black Family Channel whcih both went under right before the emergence oof TV ONE. Most of his films he does now are straight up black cast, his website has black cast on sitcoms and dramas (that was a few years ago, not sure if they're still airing.)

He directed the critically acclaimed doco-film Black Comedians on Black Comedy: Why We Laugh and got interviews from the likes of Mr. Paul Mooney, Dick Gregory, Bill Coby, Keenen Wayans, Arsenio, Chris Rock among otheers.

eek well if they said he's cool, i's better jump on board lol

i never said he 'rt' never did ANYTHING good, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

but then remember, you're siting a lot of people who are in his catagory. p. mooney

b. cosby, and d. gregory are all respectable for various reasons but in interviewin with

someone only means you're tryin to help a brotha out. that's their perogative.

Check out an even younger Keenen (with an afro) from a 1981 pilot called Irene starring of course, Irene Cara.
