I installed Windows 8 Consumer Edition on my computer. AAARRRRGGGH!

A couple of days ago I got adventurous and installed the beta version of Windows 8 on my computer, since many of the PC magazines have been raving about this. All I can say is I'm really pissed off. mad pissed It has screwed up my sound card to the point where any audio I play in it is full of buzzing and static. I have a dual boot with Ubuntu Linux, and the sound works just fine there. biggrin thumbs up!

I called my computer manufacturer about this, and they told me they don't have any audio driver updates of this yet since Windows 8 is still in beta mode. I sent an online request to the sound card manufacturer but haven't gotten a response yet.

doh! duh crash typing

That's why I didn't even download it. I get nervous about beta's when it comes to my OS....That sucks, man. Sorry about that.....

you didn't ignore the warnings and install it over your main and only windows installation without backing it up first did you?

i've found the earlier version of win8 was better than this one. i have it dual booting on this machine, but i have the previous version on 2 or 3 desktops and on my macbook under bootcamp

it's probably great on a tablet, but crap on a desktop without touchscreen

That's why I don't trust Microsoft Windows with what they advise you on installing...

I am LOVING my Mac's, SO MUCH right now!!

One should not EVER install the beta of anything, especially if it has anything to do with Microsoft. You should have waited, my friend. See if you can get into "safe mode" and work from there.

It's a way for Microsoft to cover their ass. Bill... "Yeah I know it fucked up your computer but its in Beta form....testing stage." When he knows damn well they use Beta as a way to fix the major problems and use "updates" to correct the other crap. Slicker than snot, I swear. lol

I've been thinking about getting one deem Chrome notebooks. Once upon a time I thought I was all done with Microsoft/PC and then the Chrome Sto'. I'm a sucker for apps/gadgets.

Bill Gates has always been a tricky motherfucker. lol I turned off my Automatic Updates because of this mess. I think in my old one when my Automatic Updates thing was on, I had to install Windows IE 7 and I was like "no, just no". lol

You should be able to use the Windows 7 version of your audio drivers.

I have the Win8 running on my spare work PC and I got bored of the Metro interface after just a few hours and disabled it. I would probably use it alot on a touch screen device though. I'm a little more interested in the Windows 8 Server beta.
