I am so sorry for your loss, and I know exactly how you feel. I've lost cats and dogs during my many years on this earth, and each one's passing cut to the quick. I had to take off work when my two cats died. Charlie Griffin made it to 15 years. I still miss him and my first cat Doris. I miss my second dog which was the family pet, but really my dog. I had named him "Pusser," and everyone thought the name was so gross. I miss him to this day, and he died back in 1963.

The only thing that will help you heal is time, dear. And when your heart is not as broken and achy, go ahead and adopt a new family member from the animal shelter or pound. Give your love to a pet who desparately wants and needs it. Never spend big money on buying a pure bred dog unless you plan to go into dog breeding/showing. There are thousands of homneless dogs and puppies waiting for you love. Bless you and yours.

this helps and hurts at the same time...

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I wish cats and dogs could live up to 30 years at least. My cat lived for 9 years. Thats to short. I was sad then mad. I was like why does my cat have to die, he has only been on this planet for 8 or 9 years. He's not taking up any room, he's good and never hurted anybody.... so why??? Sorry my cat died 3 weeks ago and still miss my little buddy.
