Back-in-the-day there used to be a greenhouse at N.Y.I.T. (my college) which was a remnant of the former mansion/estate that the school took over.

Anyway...the school kept the greenhouse (which used to supply the estate's home with fresh flowers year-round flowers) and the little old lady who used to take care of it. So up until she died, the school had a functioning greenhouse with flowers & stuff.

By the time I got there, the lady had long-since-died and the abandoned greenhouse was converted into a small gym.

can't imagine she died of stress related illness, being a florist must be a cushy job? just popping a few flowers into a vase.

lol

Actually I always wondered why they didn't try and incorporate some horticultural classes or something into the school curriculum - I mean it was THERE - but other than the mansion that was used for weddings and films (it was used for the original movie Arthur w/ Dudle Moore) I guess there really wasn't such a need for flowers in a university environment.
