FBI scraps long-standing definition of rape to include men as victims In a landmark decision that advocates say has been long overdue, the FBI has changed its definition of rape to include males. “This long-awaited change to the definition of rape is a victory for women and men across the country whose suffering has gone unaccounted for over 80 years,” said Vice President Joseph Biden in a statement Thursday. The new definition, as it appears on the FBI website, is: “Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim.” Another important change: the removal of the word ‘forcibly’ from the bureau’s definition, which had been in place since 1927. Advocates for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence long decried the old standard as exclusionary and limited by its definition of “carnal knowledge of a female, forcibly and against her will.” District attorneys will now have clearer avenues to prosecute those accused with forcing anal sex and/or oral sex upon another person or rape with an object. The issue of consent is addressed for the first time, since drug and alcohol intoxication are often present at the scene of reported crimes. The issue of men and rape has been thrown into the spotlight recently after former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky was accused of sex abuse of boys. Sandusky’s accusers would not be considered rape victims under the FBI’s old definition. Attorney General Eric Holder said that the new definition will lead to a clearer picture of sexual assault in America and rectify what advocates believe are woefully underreported statistics. The Criminal Justice Information Services Assistant Director David Cuthbertson said in a statement on the FBI website that the new definition “reflects the vast majority of state rape statutes,” and that the FBI “is confident that the number of victims of this heinous crime will be more accurately reflected in national crime statistics.”

holder lied under oath about his knowledge of his plan to allwo guns to be sold to drug lords which were later used to murder federal law enforcement officers making holder an accessory to capital murder... then he Lied about it... so he should be going to federal prison. (somehow i suspect barok will protect him). so i was making a joke that errock wants to make sure men can be legally raped so when he goes to prison and is raped he will be able to have them charged as such. Why does the definition have to be limited to penetration? What if a female drugs a man and forces herself on him? He is the still the victim even if he is not forcibly penetrating her. Doesn't it all boil down to a sex act lacking the consent of both parties and whether both parties are of an age and mental capacity to give consent?
I think the change in definition is good but I suspect we will need to revisit this definition in another two decades. I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

I was kinda almost raped last Friday. I have a friend whom I haven't spoken to in almost 2 years, and he came over last friday so we could hang out and catch up. His bf doesn't want him around me because he thinks I'm gonna "steal" him or whatever. Anyway, so my friend and I have a sexual history. He was telling me how he hates having sex with his new boyfriend and how boring he is blah blah blah..So we're watching movies and drinking, and I told him "I'm drinking, but I'm not getting drunk." And he said "Fine. I am." And I said "Well, don't try anything crazy. This is my house and I know where ALL the knives are. Skillets too if need be..." So he's drunk, and he takes his clothes off. He asks if I mind if he walks around naked, and I tell him I what kind of gay man would I be if I said no to that? Every time I got up, he was following me around, which was REALLY awkward, and I told him "You need to go sit down or lay down or something before you get hurt." I went in my bedroom to get something out of my closet, and when I turned around, he was blocking my way. I told him "you need to move." Then he pinned me up against the wall, and hand his hand around my throat, pretty much choking me. He had my neck grabbed and slowly started trying to move my head down to his crotch. I grabbed the fuck out of his arm and said "William, get the fuck off of me RIGHT NOW." He hesitated for a second, and then he left me go. I can defend myself, but that was still not cool nonetheless. I told him to go lay down, and he went on my bed! I told him "Hell no. Go sleep on the other one." And he didn't want to get up. So I had to cuss his ass out and he moved. The next morning was weird...he knew he fucked up. I told him what he did the night before and he tried to act like he didn't remember. Then later on after he left, he texted me "I'm sorry if I did anything to you last night." Motherfucker almost got his future hope for any children cut off. | |
