Anyone here own or know anything about Vintage Mac Computers?

I was given one,but I have never used a Mac computer before. The computer still has items on it from the previous owner, and I don't know to remove them.

If someone started a thread about words that should never go together, "vintage" and "computer" would be very high on my list. lol

Jesus Christ, just the phrase "Vintage Mac" makes me feel old.

It's what you make it.

You could remove them by getting rid of that useless computer smile

I actually love that particular model of Mac. It still looks good to me. That said, I am not sure what practical use it is. I seem to remember the hard drive had something like 15mb of space. Do you want it just as a collector's item?

Sorry not to answer your question lol I don't know how to wipe a disc clean other than throwing out everything manually.

20 MB. lol I looked it up.

You could probably do something randomly fun with DOS with it... if you want to learn to write som basic DOS, that is. lol You could format the hard drive that way, too, thereby removing whatever is on it. I don't remember the exact commant, though.

yeah there is some DOS command like "disc:format" or something that will wipe it clean, but that would get rid of the programs too, right?

I'd probably also take a computer like that just for fun to mess around with, and then it would take space that I don't have and eventually collect dust and contribute to my misery

I don't want to keep it,I'm selling it. lol

I just figured that I should try to get the previous owners info off before sending it to someone else.

Well, where did you get it? Whatever is on it shouldn't really be current. lol What is on it? Can you tell? If it's not personal, I wouldn't worry about it.

I got it from some lady that was cleaning out her 6 storage units, and did'nt want it. The only thing that I can really see as being personal would be a file called address/phone book, but lord knows how long she had it in her storage shed,so most likely,as you said none of that info is current any longer.

What does it say on it other than SE? Does it have a model number? Do you know how much ram it has, or if it has the 20 MB hard drive? And where are you planning on selling it?

Sorry for the quesitons, I'm checking out ebay. lol

The lady said that extra RAM had been added, but I'm not sure how much. It says that it is a Macintosh SE,and the back reads:

1 MB RAM

800K Drive

20SC Hard Disk

I am selling it on Ebay,it has a little more that 2 hours left.

Hm, so you are. Doesn't look like they're moving very fast in general. You might have more luck using Craigslist so you can sell it to somebody willing to pick it up (nice that you offered a decent economy shipping price, though). Or you might be able to find a local used computer/parts store who'd give you something for it. They'd be able to start it up and/or look at the inside to see if it has anything worth some cash on it.

I have thought of trying Craiglist, but I haven't had a real good experience with it.
