I guess someone used the name. I have no idea if it was THE Andrew Zimmern. Maybe it was, they're gone now.

It was him... he posted lots of pictures of himself also. He was in GD and he didn't post often but when he did share he would show us lots of pictures from his travels.

He annouced one day he would start taping episodes again and would be too busy to be on the org. for a while, he deleted his account, never came back. shrug I guess he got bored or a nutjob turned him off to thise place. shrug

omg

I had no idea.

disbelief

How long ago was this???

The only celebrity that I remember being here was Corey Feldman.

maybe im being overly senstive about this. but i've also found the title and the concept of this show to be rather ethnocentric or racism is someway. i mean why call it bizzare foods? i mean to the people of those country those aren't strange food but rather a facet of their culture? so what are they trying to say? is their culture bizarre? to who's standard?

To the standard of the white American who is traveling the world, eating stuff that is often only ingested by a minority of the populace in those countries. He makes that abundantly clear on the show, and when that's not the case he always explains that it's perfectly normal to the people of the region he's visiting.

He also gladly tries everything he's given with a smile, respects local customs and goes out of his way to explain why the indigenous peoples he's sharing a meal with eat those foods, as well as why it was, or is, necessary for them to do so.

Lastly, he very regularly makes it clear that most of the rest of the world uses many more of the parts of the animals and plants they farm than the increidbly wasteful United States. So, yeah, IMO you may be being overly sensitive about this.

Oh please, no retractions. I'm wordy. Can't help myself. Your comment was good topic for conversation or I wouldn't have had that much to say. lol I just think Andrew Zimmern goes out of his way to show respect for the people and cultures he's visiting.

Edit: Zimmern... not Zimmerman... I always do that.

whale penis. when i lived in japan, i was exposed to an endless round of 'delicacies' neutral including, but not limited to, pickled whale penis, raw living shrimp, sparrow on a stick, and blowfish (which can kill you if not prepared correctly).

japan was where i learned that even 'hospitality' has a dark side smile
