NBA: Could the players start their own league?

Do u think the players could be successful starying their own league?

They could play at college arenas until a real league is formed.

What do u think?

No

Could they really play at college arenas?

Those aren't free. Who's going to pay for using them? The players?

I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

It would be an epic fail, IMO.

Too many financial and marketing obstacles to overcome.

How about sitting out a year and working something out long term?

A year? You obviously have no idea what this would take. lol

Apart from the logistics, what player would actually want to do it? They'd be playing for a fraction of what they used to make - and would probably have to throw in a lot more for the organization.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

How ever long it would take. I was just throwing a year out on the table.

This is something the players have been discussing 4 a while.

I'm sure they could. They could play at a local gym and charge $5 a head to watch.

But getting hundreds of players and dozens of coaches and physical therapists and drivers and managers & trainers and large stadiums and announcers and ticket takers and ushers and beer vendors and parking people all over the country to be organized and worked out with existing schedules in said venues would be a HUGE job.

Both sides but mostly the owners..............nobody told the owners 2 play certain players in excess of $100 million dollar contracts.

Why don't the players just play a year in the modern-day ABA? biggrin IMO, this is the best idea for them while the NBA is still on lockout.

Let me tell you the REAL reason why this would fail:

No more groupies!

Ain't gonna be no more Basketball Wives TV shows if the show revolves around which Denny's they're going to eat lunch at!
