Technically Tyler Perry EARNED that much, which is not the same as getting PAID that much. He earned that much because he produces his own movies and, so far, they've been profitable. If he had produced a series of bombs he wouldn't even have been on the list.

And this is not hate! More power to him! In fact, maybe its even more impressive. But its definitely not the same as say, Leo DiCaprio, who was PAID $77 million to act.

Earned VS Paid? Are you serious? Forbes got it right..The Brotha is the highest Paid man in showbiz TODAY period....TBS paid him an Ass of money for his shows and he gets a check from Lions Gate...And he gets a paycheck from all of his hit plays...That's just for starters...

So yeah he's earning the pay check which is making him the HIGHEST paid man...

I was totally serious. And I think I went out of the way, twice, to make clear it was a compliment. He's risking his own money on those plays, tv shows and movies. He's not getting paid - he's PRODUCING. There's a huge difference. If they fail, he doesn't make money. But they haven't failed, so more power to him.

Well i guess people eat up movies with sterotypical characters, the basic same plots. And a psycho character like Madea who is supposed to be full of ''wisdom'' Yet does nothing but say hell to the naw, beat up people. Shoot people, get on probabtion and act a coonery boofenery. GREAT ROLE MODEL

Seriously i will stick to Spike Lee's worst films over Tylers ''best''

I think it's good that a black man has achieved such great success in a country as racist as the U.S. Yes, I said RACIST. Just because it's 'not cool' to be racist anymore in the eyes of the media doesn't mean that people aren't racist anymore. It only means that they are more discreet with it. Look at all the fuss over a president who was bi-racial.

Yeah..God bless America.

I despise those movies. As much as I can understand why some people can't stand Madea, I can at least understand what's going on behind it and find enjoyment in it. But the whole big momma phenomena I never got at all.

I see comments made (like Terrb3lTowel's) as more of commentary of the disparity between whites and blacks in America. All things are still not equal in many regions of the country despite the tireless work done by good people stemming all the way back from Civil Right's movement until today. Some would rather think that complaining blacks are just lazy and refuse to believe that the disparity exists.

Many black people still are not given the same consideration (particulary in the film indrustry)... so some (like Mr. Perry) find their OWN audience and gain support through more of a grass roots effort from a minority group as opposed to having a mass appeal world wide like some of the other actors and actors on that Forb's list profit from. Its quite exciting to withness a man from humble beginings not only gain much, but gain it through a people who are often overlooked and discounted... that would be the church going mommas and poppas of the black church.

I tip my churchhat to him and to those who recognize that black people are a MAJOR consumer force and we need to pool our efforts and spend our dollars in a way where companies will cater more to our needs and not the reverse.

imo spike lee is still in a disheartened self-pity mode due to a 2003 lawsuit in which he felt his name had been exploited.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...TV_channel)

Spike (formerly Spike TV), a division of MTV Networks, is an American cable television channel. The channel began life as The Nashville Network (TNN), founded by WSM, Inc.

After several changes of ownership and name, Spike operates as part of MTV Networks, owned by Viacom. In early 2003, another name change was announced. The new brand, Spike TV, was marketed as the first television channel for men. Eventually, early in 2006, Spike removed the word "TV" from their name in promotional segments it airs, referring to itself simply as "Spike".

The name change to "Spike TV" was supposed to be official on June 16, 2003. However, on June 13, film director Spike Lee won a New York Supreme Court injunction preventing the name change. Lee claimed that because of his well-known popularity in Hollywood, viewers would therefore assume that he was associated with the new channel. Lee stated in court papers that: "The media description of this change of name, as well as comments made to me and my wife, confirmed what was obvious--that Spike TV referred to Spike Lee."

The channel had planned an official launch of its new name at a star-studded, televised party at The Playboy Mansion in mid-June. But due to Lee's injunction, the special—titled Party With Spike—had to be heavily edited and the impact of the event was considerably muted. During the lawsuit, even the name "TNN" was significantly scaled back, as logos and voice-overs referred to the channel only as "The First Network for Men".

The suit was settled on July 8, 2003, and TNN was allowed to call itself Spike TV. In announcing the settlement, Lee admitted that he did not believe that the channel intentionally tried to trade on his name.

The name change became official on August 11, 2003. Terms of the settlement weren’t released.

if this is one of the catalyst behind spike lee's obvious paranoia of another black man in the movie industry moving ahead, get over it. that was almost a decade ago.
