I felt it. I live north of NYC. I've been sick for about a week now and I was just laying here and I felt my bed moving a bit. I thought I was going crazy neutral

I was in midtown Manhattan at my gym and didn't feel a thing. But my friends at my former job in the Empire State Building said the building shook.

I live in N.Y. Yesterday, I was getting ready to do some errands and I felt the bed move for several seconds. I did not think that it was an earthquake. This happened a few years ago, my mother, neihbors told me about it(I was at work at that time and did not feel it as strong as they did. In the mid 80's I was a kid and do not remember the mini quake at that time. My older family members do. The New Yorkers are lucky that nothing serious happened. Hurricane Irene is coming this weekend.

Virginia did not have any major affects( as far as I know). I am glad that everyone is o.k.

Rabbi Yehuda Levin Blames Washington, DC Earthquake On Gay Marriage (VIDEO)

A New York rabbi claims gay marriage and the earthquake that shook the East Coast are directly connected.

In a video uploaded to YouTube, Levin says gay rights legislation, like the gay marriage law passed in New York, are responsible for earthquakes, like the one that struck .... Tuesday.

“The Talmud states, 'You have shaken your male member in a place where it doesn't belong. I too, will shake the Earth,'” Levin says.

He also notes that he does not dislike gay people.

"We don't hate homosexuals," he says. "I feel bad for homosexuals. It's a revolt against God and literally, there's hell to pay."

On Top Magazine reports that Joseph Farah, editor of WorldNetDaily.com, expressed similar sentiments.

nod Yup, Central Square: just where I am.

And to think that this is rated as one of the 'best places' to live in the country in terms of services/infrastructure [which the rents also attest]... rolleyes

Cambridge is like that too nod Central Square and the surrounding areas especially when the trains rumble in... you can feel them under your feet on the sidewalks.

Really? I didn't notice. And I'm usually ultra-sensitive to them. They don't really freak me out anymore, though. WHEN the big one happens its going to do whatever it wants. Can't stop it. shrug

Well, gay marriage started here in Holland. And we never experienced earthquakes.

So, I think Levin makes some bad causal inferences here.

yeah they were right under Oakland/San Leandro area. So it was pretty noticeable to me

They always scare me because I wonder how big they will be and because they are always a surprise. But once they happen I am pretty much back to normal. Like you say, not much you can do
