I was in my bedroom, relaxing and drinking a beer when it happened. I thought I had, had too much to drink. I then went into my mother's bedroom and she thought it was a part of the war movie, she was watching. Although it only lasted 20 seconds, it was an experience.
Oh you best believe I'm drinking a beer now! LOL. With an Ativan (Lorazepam) chaser, lol. "There's Nothing That The Proper Attitude Won't Render Funkable!"

I first thought all the blankets I was washing shifted in the machine, then the walls shook a little and I thought it was the ocassional trembling from living near Quantico base, then shit started bouncing and I was like OH OH

Someone else just said this and I replied MTE.
Well this is an experience I'm gonna remember for the rest of my life. Just glad it wasn't one of those deadly ones.
But I'm sure the people who felt it are all alright. |

Well, in those few seconds you try to remember what have you always been taught to do. Do I go in a doorframe or a tub, wait, is that for tornado? Do I get under the desk, fuck but I gotta get the dogs and I'm not sure I can fit my ass, Lola and a big-ass St. Bernard under my desk. OK maybe we should run outside, I don't see the street opening up. Shit! Where did I put the leashes? |

I'm in NC too... definitely felt it here...
and I work in a museum... one object fell over, but no damage, thank goodness.
The local news is going to be a mess tonight... an earthquake and the possibility of a hurricane by the weekend... it's like the holy grail to those folks!!! |

Yeah you have to wonder about what to do. But from what I read, it's actually no different than a hurricane/tornado warning. I think the way quakes go here, it's not as taken to a point of a weather warning as it is in California. I mean we're all immune to quakes - there's been some quakes in the east coast earlier this year - but we never take it seriously. But I think we all have different type of faults that there's a different reaction that people get when quakes hit. |

now lets all x our fngers for a hurricane in California...or would it be a typhoon cuz it's the pacific?
I don't think it will happen like that. We live on different soil. If another happened in California, it would be because of earthquakes felt west of it (Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, etc.)
hurricane...not an earthquake...those happen any old day! |

Update 3:22 p.m. ET: The North Anna nuclear power plant, which located closest to the epicenter of Tuesday's earthquake in Virginia, is shut down and in a safe condition, a company official and the Louisa County public information office report. There has been no release of nuclear material, Louisa County spokeswoman Amanda Reidelbach said.
(from: http://news.blogs.cnn.com...ngton-d-c/)
My boyfriend's dad was working construction near this plant during the quake... said he got shook off a huge rock pile while operating heavy equipment... they shut down the site afterwards and sent everyone home just in case something happened to the plant. Good to know that all is ok there. |

I don't know what I was reading. But nah I don't think California will get a hurricane. We live on different soil like I said. |
