leonardo dicaprio, yay or nay?

disbelief

ive seen several movies of his, and i cant say i like him in anything but whats eating gilbert grape ...and he played a mentally retarded kid in that. although, i liked catch me if you can too, but mostly because of tom hanks. hes my favorite.

even titanic, which is my all-time favorite movie.. i think they couldve gotten somebody better for that. idk who, but even if i did, it would be pointless to say lol because its hard to picture someone else playing such a famous role.

it looks to me like he tries too hard. romeo + juliet is a perfect example. nobody else has agreed with me so far that hes a bad actor, so i seem to be the only one that sees it. i guess its just that hes definitely got a different acting style, which isnt exactly bad, but i dont like it.

yay --> actor

nay --> sexappeal

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

I think he is totally overrated, mostly because of Gilbert Grape

But he's okay, and clearly makes good choices in his roles.

The Aviator - I know a lot of people love this one, but it just misses for me.

The Man In The Iron Mask - Can't explain it - I know its not very good, yet I still watch it when its on.

Romeo + Juliet - Saw this in the theater in 96 and thought I liked it, but I like it less and less over time.

Wish they were better:

The Beach

The Quick and The Dead

Blood Diamond

I think he's done pretty well considering the fact that he looked the same age for 20 years and his voice still sometimes sounds like his nuts haven't dropped. I'm glad he keeps doing different kinds of films, though. I'm interested to see what QT does with him in Django Unchained.

he's one of my favorite actors...it took me a while to get him because I couldn't get past him looking like a perpetual kid...I eventually realised that as I was watching his movies, I totally lost sight that it was Leo playing the characters and found myself just believing in the characters...to me, thats the mark of a good actor...

How is it you feel?

Great actor imo. I don't really find him sexy. Can't put my finger on it but there's something about him that leads me to believe he is the controlling type. shrug

I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

Yay

I've seen about 6 films he's in, Titanic, Inception, Shutter Island, Catch Me If You Can, Romeo + Juliet, Revolutionary Road. He's such a great actor! Probably one of my favourites.

I thought Shutter Island was really clever. I love the way you can read the film totally differently when you rewatch it once you know the twist....

I actually like most of his movies that I have seen. Except Blood Diamond. I dunno, him playing Rambo basically...just wasn't working for me.

That is the only movie I've ever liked him in.

He's a big 'nay' for me. disbelief

I think he is a pretty good actor.

My teenage crush on him died a long time ago....I was swept up in the whole Titanic mania which included seeing it multiple times at the movies. I really don't know why I found his skinny and ultra boyish self so damn attractive....not really my type.

I like him more and more...at the beginning of his career he was a no for me. Mostly because I didn't find him attractive. But lately i've seen some movies of him and he's just a really good actor.

I think now it actually works for him he's not this 'hunk', like Jake Gyllenhaal for example. Leonardo is much more interesting.

Not a fan. The only thing I liked him in was Gilbert Grape. I probably still hold a grudge against him for putting the final nail in the Growing Pains coffin. I call him Leonardo DiCrapio.

i think he just scrapes in ~ i can see him improving as in many of his movies there are glimpses of great potential

i loved him in Titanic that role really suited him

give him another 5 years there will eventually be a great role just perfect for him nod

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

nay cuz he walks funny, all sort of splar footed & clumsy. when he's acting his characters look conceited but self consious, the way he flicks his floppy fringe about.
