Still miss him....

[img:$uid]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/MIGUELGOMEZ/FrankandI.jpg[/img:$uid]

I met Frank (Francisco, excuse me. haha) when I was 14 years old. We became inseperable. He was brutally honest, hilarious and had this amazing charisma. He was a star. When we were in our early twenties he started DJ'ing and he was amazing. So many people loved him. I loved him.

Frank passed from a brain tumor in 2005.

I still hear something funny on tv, or something will happen to me and my first reaction is "Oh my God, I have to tell Frank." It's interesting that I still get that urge.

I'm very lucky to have gone through 25 years of my life with him. Oh and the volumes of stories I have of things that we went through. Hilarious. I will always have those.

Who do you miss?

Do you have a best friend that you're still hanging around with and tell absolutely everything too?

I have a very good friend (she's my daughter's godmother in fact) whom I've known since the 9th grade (that's 27 years and counting). She's the only one left after all these years. I have FB friends from school...but not in RL.

I miss my great grandmother, 'Granny'...I'm getting tears in my eyes just thinking about her and typing this....she's been gone a few years and it hasn't gotten any easier knowing that I can't see her...I've never known a more genuinely good person...she probably had more positive impact on my life than anyone else...

on the other hand, I'm very lucky in the best friend department...two guys, one I've known since before kindergarten, the other since 2nd grade - the original 3 amigos, or stooges, as the case may be....we all still hang out regularly, are involved with each others families and tell each other anything and everything...I fully realize how lucky I am to have that kind of life long connection...

How is it you feel?

The people that I can tell anything to are my best friend, whom I've known since she moved here from Puerto Rico when we were 4 years old, and my sweetie. The only person that I can say that I really, truly miss is my grandmother. She passed away in 2009. I always find myself talking about her and relating things to her. I just always seem to bring her up lol I still cry about her. I don't think I'll ever get over her passing.

Thanks for sharing you guys and gals.

It's been crazy for me.

2004 my cousin Ernie passed. He was like my brother and a year younger than me.

2004 my friend John passed.

2005 my best friend Frank passed, his mom passed the year before.

2006 and 2007 my other best friend Joy's grandparents. Loved them. Very sweet.

2010 my best friend Joy passed. I miss her too but it still hasn't sunk in.

What is going on? I have had survivor guilt for some time now.

Sorry for your loss(es), MG. hug

I miss my aunt and her man. They were the shit, they did a lot for my sister, Mom and I. And he, along with my Grandfather (who passed so long ago that I no longer miss him in that hurting inside way) were the only two men in my life from age 6 to adulthood. My aunt passed a few years ago after a long struggle and my "uncle" decided to sever contact with our family after more than twenty years of being a huge part of it. I miss them both a great deal.

Thankfully, I do have two friends who are the rocks of my life. One I've known for 26 years, the other for 21. I talked to the latter for an hour and forty-five minutes last night. Which for me is like running a marathon. lol I hate the damn phone, but I love that woman, so for her I'll do it.

It's good that we don't get over it, so at least we don't forget. I heard that in a movie once and it's true.

Teacher

A childhood friend who overdosed, perhaps accidentally (nobody knows). He was from Gambia, and during winter he would say "man Jen, you're white" to me (I get really pale in the winter) and I'd respond "Ebou, man you're black". cry Tearing up now. He was a joyful soul before the drugs took him. Some friends and I detoxed him once by locking him up for a week, but he kept going back. There was only so much we could do. Ebou, I miss you.

Miguel, I'm sorry for your losses. rose I understand you feel some survivor's guilt, but those you love live on in your memories of them. They're still loved. hug
