Eddie Murphy: RAW

Goddamn, is that a motherfucking brilliant set. It would be very interesting to hear him do stand-up today, to see how his humor (and perspective) has evolved.

Favorite Eddie bits (stand-up, SNL, movies or otherwise)?

he'd be shite now with all that kids shit he does these days. since he got kids he stopped doing adult stuff. richard pryor didn't stop as he said it was the way he spoke that put the food on the table and explained that to his kids

My ONLY beef with raw is the absence of the audience shots, I don't know why, but seeing people's expressions makes stand up even more worthwhile to me.

That being said, Delirious was his finest hour.

Well, his buddy, Chris Rock, does adult stuff. So maybe - if he ever went back to stand-up - that wouldn't be an issue?

When Tom Waits made a concert film (Big Time), he said they didn't shoot the audience so as to lessen the dating of it. Maybe that was the decision with RAW, as well?

That being said, Delirious was his finest hour.

Ya know, I've never seen it. redface Will rectify that this week!

what wouldn't be an issue? you mean he would do adult stuff and not care about his kids or wouldn't do adult stuff and not care about the audience?

all he's done is kids movies for the last god knows how long. instead of a return to stand up he might wanna appear in a few adult comedies first to prove himself and gain his audience back and then go on the road. it worked for dane cook

I love the bit where he gets teased by the neighborhood kids

cuz his moms makes the burger instead of getting Mc Donald's.

Might be on raw or delerious not sure. Also Mister Robinsons

neighborhood from SNL.

nod I think Eddie has just become complacent. When he was on Inside the Actor's Studio he spoke about the process to developing a good stand up set, where you have to write and go to clubs to try things out and keep going back and forth, and all the vulnerabilities that come with that especially as someone who has amassed so much fame while away from the stand up comedy game. He then ended by saying, while he was excited about the prospect of doing that he was somewhat unwilling to start that process over again or at least trying to find the right to time to do so.

Brilliant! Eddie was just on a roll in the 80s...... and these are 2 of the best comedy dvd's around. Eddie didn't give a damn what he said and didn't care who he offended he was indeed ''raw'' razz

I remember enjoying this movie, but can't remember why...that's funny to me biggrin . I sort of remember the hamburger bit (his mother making his hamburger out of ground beef instead of buying a big mac).
