I would like to meet orgers on my way South. I will make this short because now I am out of time!!!! I will be traveling alone from Massachusetts to somewhere around the Pensacola, Florida area and I would like to stop and meet orgers along the way if possibe. I doubt that I will have another opportunity soon. Will travel by train and bus. Will wear distict purple prince.org snuggie etc. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

I live in New Orleans. Anyone is welcome anytime. But New Orleans is out of the way of Pensacola.

That is actually my final destination! I left there in 2002 and miss it so much. I was only there 2 years and no longer have anyone there that I can stay with until I get my self situated. I will try and stay with my friend in Pensacola until I can get a roomate situation, at least, in New Orleans. I will be leaving my daughter in Massachusetts until I find a suitable apartment in NOLA and get a feel for a halfway decent school for her. I am psyched that you, a person from NOLA , was the first to respond!!!! There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. That will be wonderful! I would like to org surf my way way South because my daughter will be with family and I won't have to worry about her. I can take some adult time for me. I also turn 50 on August 29th and that is part of the need to do this too. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. I am leaving either the 20th, 21st or 22nd. I would like to see New England orgers before I go. PaintedLady, Shorty, Acrylic top my list. I can not imagine leaving without taking the opportunity to see them. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

Thanks for the encouragement!!!! My family keep telling me about how depressing it is now, they read abuot it on the web, and have convinced me that leaving my daughter here is in fact the right choice for now. I fell so hard for that city in 2000 and cried like a baby when I need to leave. I am at the library here so if I don't get back to the thread until tomorrow that is why. I can however orgnote people from my phone. I can lurk on threads but not contribute from my phone. I was actually born in Los Angeles . But My Dad was born in New Orleans and my Mom was born across the lake in Madisonville. Ironically, they didn't meet till my mom got to CA when she was like 25 or summin...IDR?
Another kind of southern inbred joke we have(it isn't inbred at all, we just say that) is my dad's dad new my Mom's brother in law(they were both around the same age...my mom's sister is like 15-20 years older than my mom...and her brother in law is like 10 years older than that. He was CRAZY old)...plus, they were carpenter's together and one of them owed the other money or something....whatevr's true...they didn't get along AT ALL. They both would drink at "The Black Cat" with these two cicks named/called Maime & Shebee. It's all pretty bizzare if U ask me.
sorry about the unintentional trip to ancestory.com...
Anyways, my parents r both full on creole and from NOLA and surrounding area. So I think that counts towards me being "from New Orleans"

It does to me! I just love that place and from the moment I stepped foot there I knew that that was where I was meant to be. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

Mardi Gras. Fresh shrimp...i mean FOB to my cooler fresh. The hot creole chicks. Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, Fats Domino, Dr. John as well as countless others. The Quarter minus the pee. Existence of seasons; the lack of seasons in CA is PAINFULLY obvious to me now.
Treme. Blacks and whites and indians lived peacefully next to each other peacefully...fully intergrated neighborhood EONS ago...before Jim Crow and "seperate but equal" policies screwed it ALL up. Oh yeah...the first black owned newspaper the first effective public transportation strike, around 100 years BEFORE Rosa

Thanks for all of the encouraging pictures. I hope I will not have to stay in Pensacola long before finding a roomate situation, or a halfway decent room to rent, in NOLA. I am beyond excited!
I am trying to hook up with paintedlady, shorty and Acrylic before I go. It is my dream to start my prince.org trip here in New England and then meet people all the way to my final destination. I could even bring things from one orger to another. I was also hoping that I could have pictures taken with different orgers and me and post them on this thread. My 50th birthday is August 29 and this present I am giving to myself will make this the best birthday for me, ever!!!! Today is the 10th and I am getting so very excited x 1000! My heart is racing like I am about to meet a long lost love for the first time in years. I will leave most likely on the 22nd of August. My daughter does not want to make the move. She is almost 10 and her aunt tells her of crime rates and homeless people everywhere so she shall stay and attend the same school she did last year. That is a good thing.
Meanwhile I just got word from Barnes and Noble that the new American Girls will be a set from New Orleans and they are having a contest and the winner gets a set of these doll. I see this as an omen because my daughter was born there, she is extremely musical and loves to cook and loves American Girl Dolls but is dragging her feet on going. I hope and pray that we win these doll because that will be one more sign to me from God that I am truly meant to go AND NOW!!!!

phew! I found your thread! Oh yes I would LOVE to meet you before you go away but I'm so happy for you to be doing this adventure and to admit...a lil jealous. ok...so I can pretty much take a day off of work to meet up....weekends are prettty booked but...what's good for you? I'm going to go orgnote (ie harass) Arcylic and painted lady now.
"not a fan" yeah...ok | |

I have not heard from Acrylic unfortunately. I have never met orgers before and I feel like time wise and all this may be my big opportunity verses just flying to Florida.
My last day at my apartment is August 22nd which is a Monday. Certainly I could stay with someone after that here in Worcester but I am so very eager to get the hell on my way!!! I have bought some new glasses and got a cute haircut (I think it is cute anyway) and I am soooo excited!!!
I think Paintedlady lives more towards Cape Cod but close enough to Boston that we could all meet there for my send off. I think I am going to start a prince.org autograph book too!!!! The 20th is a no go for me... the 22? I'll get a sitter... sounds like a go on my end.

The 22nd is perfect! That would be a great starting point for me. I just talked to someone at Peter Pan and they have this bus pass where you can just keep riding for 7 days for $250.00. That would give me to the 29th to get to Pensacola and I could hop on and off the bus frequently in those days. Hopefully someone invites me to their house so I can stay clean and fresh for the next orger . For me that is the scary part; smelling bad and being all hairy-circus-lady looking!!!
