What a heart-breaking situation !
It is indeed. But I don't think the cat is going to live to see tomorrow. She is rapidly declining now, and is very weak. My co-worker told me that she was leaning up against the wall so she could walk around. Today she was just laying around sleeping, and I thought maybe she was in a coma. I read online that when cats have kidney failure (which is another illness that this poor cat has), they slip into a coma, and quietly pass. I sat next to her, petting her and softly talking to her, and all of a sudden, she picked her head up. I said, "OMG, Anissa, you're awake!" She then acted like she wanted to get up and walk around. Poor thing, even when she's on death's door, she still wants to do the things that she usually does. She's a fighter. I told her, "Don't move, Anissa, just stay where you are and relax". She laid back down again, thankfully. I spent a good 45 minutes with her today before I left work, because I know that she will no longer be alive when I go to work on Sunday. Poor girl, but it's better for her to pass quietly, then it is for her to go on suffering like she has. She has been really, really sick.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister's cat. That's what happens when cats are in kidney failure - they lose a ton of weight, and become tiny little skeletons. I also lost a cat to kidney failure; he lived to be almost 15 years old, so he had a good life. The cat at work passed away yesterday. RIP, Anissa. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you. |
