1. What the fuck is a buddy list? You know why I don't know the answer? Because this isn't fuckin' Facebook. Do you count your buddies here and ask people on Facebook questions about the total?

3-4. Stop trying so hard. Its not the same. They don't even live in the same neighborhood.

there is a buddy list on the org lol you add people to it, then you know when they log in

What, because you can't tell they're online when you see their posts? lol

People that have countless "friends" are friend whores, plain and simple...I can't see any similarity between the org and FB...I don't have to wade thru numerous bullshit posts to find what interests me on FB because I'm in full control of who and what is posted there...there's a huge difference in social networking sites and message boards...
How is it you feel?

I have 200 friends, so 420 sounds like a lot to me, and 800 does not sound too much different than 400

Some people just love to talk! Remember on Myspace they had these friend generators where you could get 10,000 friends, as if it mattered? lol

Sometimes, others I see logged in here and then I know it's time to head over to Facebook chat or WhatsApp. I do have a few real life friends on here I like to catch up with regularly.

Trust me I know. I know whose my friends, I know whose not. I still talk to those people, that's how I know.

I don't mean to be rude, but do you really think you have over a 400 "friends"? As in real friends friends and not just people you know more or less.

True, i was just thinking if FB is a way for your business of getting the word out, then I totally get having lots of people.. I also understand how as a teen, you have high school friends, then you go to college, and get more friends, then you get a job etc etc etc so I can see how your list builds, but for me, being in my early 40's I just dont personally know that many people anymore..

A lot of my FB friends are Prince fans (mostly orgers) which is weird as I am not even much of a Prince fan anymore. The more friends you have the more requests you get too. But even the majority of my RL friends is still Prince fans or former Prince fans I think as I met many of my friends shortly after I finsihed school which was a time when I was a huge Prince fan. And only slowly the amount of non-Prince fans rises among my RL friends lol.

NONE not ONE of my RL friends are Prince fans... lol I had never met as big of a fan as myself until the org.. Thats part of the reason I love it here, Even tho I RARELY if ever, have talked about Prince here lol lol

My sister would be about the only one who I would consider a fan, we went to the musicology concert together, even tho we sat at different seats... So I can play any album when we are together and she knows the music other than purple rain.. lol

comfort Very different for me. For many years until pretty recently my boyfriend and the only 4 close friends I had as well as a number of other friends were all huge Prince fans lol. Crazy times lol. Then most of all were not that interested in Prince anymore, but we were still friends. And last year when Prince played in my hometown again after many years he had not been to my country I rebuilt some friendships with Prince fans too who I had been friends with many years ago, but lost contact. My whole family always thought he was aweful though lol.

I have over 300 and I’ve cleaned the list up a time or two. For the most part it’s all folks I know in person or have known online long enough to want to interact with that way. I’ve also met a LOT of orgers in person over the years. lol

For a while I was accepting anyone who was a Prince fan as I assumed I knew them from the org but just didn’t click on what their username was and I didn’t want anyone to feel badly. I’ve since deleted most of those. redface Now I have to recognize (and like) you before I’ll add.

I do occasionally add people when I’m just getting to know them. Like a friend of a friend you meet through a yoga class or at a party or something and you talked about something you had in common and now you think you may talk to them further. It’s easy to “rack up” lots of folks that way. And it’s all genuinely because you want to connect with that person, not ‘cause you want to look like you’ve got a zillion friends. shrug

MacDaddy

I have 100+ 'friends' on Facebook.

I guess the breakdown is roughly as follows:

1/5 = orgers

1/5 = former uni/highschool mates

1/5 = colleagues or work related aquintances

2/5 = real-life friends

Oh I am sure you are popular and all. It's just not that I would consider people who I simply know friends. I would have hundreds of 'friends' too if I did that.

There are "friends" and "facebook friends"...when I requested that some orgers "friend" me on facebook, very few did. The ones that did are cool. They post Prince related comments or pics/links to videos that I don't see here. I also joined a Teena Marie fan page on there, and it's just great to see like minded individuals share memories, favorite songs...etc. Just like on here, but without all the rules and restrictions that the Org has.

But like Cerebus, I don't like people so that's most likely why I feel the way he does about this. razz

I don't know much about facebook but a friend of mine recently told me if a person has 800 friends on facebook, they've probably only actually met 8 of them. lol
