"A fire broke out backstage in a theatre. The clown came out to warn the public; they thought it was a joke and applauded. He repeated it; the acclaim was even greater. I think that's just how the world will come to an end: to general applause from wits who believe it's a joke."

~ From the "Diapsalmata" section of philosopher Soren Kierkegaard's Either/Or.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Yeah you did, but in a way that's risking getting the topic moved over to a section where it will promptly die off or get turned into some bullshit debate-fest.

Although it might end up getting turned into a debate over here and THEN getting moved to the Politics section. *gives you an evil look* mad

I'm not trying to turn this into a religious debate but from what I've observed around here, and in life in general, is that both sides are so hellbent on thinking they are right, that they don't even take into consideration that they could be wrong.

Religious people seem to think they are right but where they mess up, is when they try to convince other people of it and try to make them religious also because they think they are "saving" them. And athiests seem to want to show religious people how stupid they think they are for believing in God when they think there is no evidence that he exists.

I honestly don't know why both sides can't understand that they all could be possibly wrong because none of us knows for sure. But they both throw insults at each other trying to prove their point and then it turns into a war.

Eye could b wrong!!!!!!!!eye also think there r ufos out there another reason i never bcame a jehovahs witness!!!!!God could b an alien 4 all i no????I hope u dont think i was preaching cuz eye wasnt but the question was about the end and 4 many years with jw thats what u r taught thats all.Im not a bible basher i love porn 4 gods sake its just information ive picked up along the way eyeb didnt say that what eye daid was right ok ........peace

True.

Although the earth is going to last another 5+ billion years, life on it is only has a few hundred million left before the increasing rays of the sun start to make life inhospitable here.

But within just a few thousand years, we will have colonized other planets and possibly systems. Unless of course Fermi's Paradox applies to us as well, which is more than possible.

Ah, well.... I can only go so far with that one and here's why.lol

ok... how should I try to explain this without you thinking I'm just being a complete troll.

ok... i'll just spit it out.... I've met a "grey"

*ahem*....NOW then...

was he from outer space? Don't know. Some say he is from another dimension. Some say he is from the future. Some say he is from Zeta Reticulli. Some say he is from below the surface of the earth. Where is he from? Haven't got the full story on that and am not expecting to be told that full story any time soon but who knows?

Anywho.... eek

What I think about the situation is that regardless, I'm almost certain he would somehow qualify in one way or another....and rumor has it that this is "known" in certain circles and all sorts of crap has been witnessed by many.... It's hard for me to even give that paradox a thought.

That in itself doesn't mean we will again get off the planet because let's say he crash landed and died and he was the last of his kind and now it's a moot point.... and it certainly doesn't mean that we will be able to zip across the universe in good time to find another "earth"

Basically what I'm saying is that perhaps we will figure something out or just flat out get lucky because I think the universe holds more mystery than we could possibly imagine. I mention him because it certainly makes me wonder about panspermia and all that. I mean you could just look at science or you could also throw faith claims in there such as the bible's take that god made a garden here... and that he could somehow do it elsewhere.

....but in trying to explain my thoughts on the bible it ocurred to me that if you believe that particular book, there is your answer right there. If we were all to get new bodies and have everlasting life, would we no longer be human? If not.... then perhaps it will be as prophecy states and god's going to come clean house.... OR.... if we are changed by God and you still want to saywe are human and still believe the bible.... your answer is therefore "never".... because God gave us eternal life.

That's the best stab I could take at that. lol

Whoa there....hold da phone....back up...

Believe it or not, yeah - because really this isn't a solely religious concept. There's any number of ways that could bring about the end of humanity that don't involve what's described in religious texts, or any religious figures.

But yeah, I probably should've known better that someone would come in and start spouting Biblical references. lol

check this out.... anybody have any thoughts on this snippet under the w article for wormwood?

A highly elliptical orbit of a Brown Dwarf star at the edge of the Oort cloud may also be a similar culprit that is beginning to gain attention for causing Extinction Level Events on Earth every 26-27 million years. Some scientists even name this hypothetical object as Nemesis. Still, other scientists attribute the disturbance in the Oort system to the highly elliptical orbit of 90377 Sedna, every 10,000 to 15,000 years, suggesting that this disturbance may have caused an impact event that created Burckle Crater and a subsequent megatsunami in the Indian Ocean, recorded as the great Flood in the Epic of Gilgamesh and in the Book of Genesis.

--------------------

Someone i talk to keeps mentioning planet x to me... that is supposed to be Eris or Nibiru... I don't think its related to the issue of the brown dwarf... or is it???

I'm trying to find out because an intersection, a crossing of objects, an X, the ASL sign for the letter X keeps coming up in certain "conversations" with a certain individual I try discussing these things with.

i never bit down too hard on the whole planet X thing but it keeps coming up.... and keeps coming up.

perhaps it's not a planet at all.

I'm definitely going to be reading more on this oort cloud crap because not only do I think something cosmic will happen, i think something interdimensional will happen. I'm talking about things we can't even detect from this dimension that is somehow going to intersect with it.... alter it during the phases of the intersection and then pass once again.... leaving this dimension once again yet changed forever.

oooooOOOOOOOoooooo eek

Ok...so that is what a dwarf star is...k.

Ok, this is TOTALLy weird. the oort cloud is something scientist are thinking they are beginning to understand and I guess our oort cloud seems to be more of the type that are around binary star systems so they think.

We only have one sun.... as of right now.

Where's the other? It's invisable. It's a substar/ planetar.

If it comes into contact with our atmosphere, it's going to get.... warm I guess? eek

i don't know... this is all getting very interesting as frightening as it sounds.

i was watching this crazy video about this guy talking and he was actually making a HELL of a lot of sense in many parts and that was what was scary about it.

This world is where light meets darkness. he was referring to it as a world of dark airs... like a web that traps light because we have light from only one source...one angle. He said there will be an event where there will be another light and in this time frame, the world of darkness will be completely overtaken with pure light.... and this will free the spirits of light that are trapped on this earth who came here for whatever reason into the world of darkness.

Hmmm... THIS IS WEIRD!

maybe ETs are so sneaky and can do all kinds of crazy stuff because they are from a binary star system and the radiation that is present in their solar systems makes their DNA much different than how we understand it.

the difference between 2 and 3-d..... there is a 4th and a 5th....etc....

weeeeeeeird. eek

oh...another thing.

i read an article and now I can't find it that NASA is playing around with electromagnetic organic cells.

You see, we are alive because our bodies convert food water and air into energy.

some cells don't need to do all that to be cnducive to energy... and be living.

the cells feed directly from energy... light.

I was afraid. I wasn't terrified. He seemed to know me... he seemed to know what he was doing. He wasn't mean or anything... he was just very very different. I knew something was up when i saw the way his skin looked and that he did not have an ear... then when i saw the flash and saw it reflect off of his pupils which were about the size of silver dollars... If he wanted to hurt me, he would have.

He was very old... He was trying to make a good impression and wore a suit and and a hat to the ocassion. Old as he seemed to be, make no mistake... this is one bad-ass mo-fo. He gives new meaning to the word.

The closer you can get to putting pure energy into your cells, the more effecient of an organism you are. it is indeed an interesting concept.... especially in complex creatures.

This is why stuff like juicing and vitamins is so good for you. A lot of the crap (literally) that we do... is just red tape.

I think I would have freaked out...when was the last time you saw him?

In the flesh?

I have to ask because making appearances in the flesh isn't exactly his forte it seems.

I *believe* I saw him when I was 22... it was definitely another encounter with something but it's hard to tell if that was him because he was clad in silver mesh superconductor material from head to toe. It all happened very fast. I will tell the whole story another time perhaps. I just don't want to do it now because I don't want to leave out details. At first I thought it was a woman because he has a very slim waist and is not very tall. There were two of them and one was much taller... human sized.

I'm pretty sure the shorter one was him.

I actually thought I saw him a few months ago... or perhaps a relative of his... dressed in black head to toe... but that whole incident has me very suspicious now because it does not seem likely at all that he would have been in that situation here in the year 2011.

You have to understand, he may be long gone from the way I remembered him. He may have left his body behind long long ago but i will tell you something else strange. i met a guy years ago and when we met he told me a story of something he had recently seen in the woods... a small figure in black covered in this needle like things that would hurt if you touched them. I thought he was nuts but it was the start of many very interesting conversations and an entire relationship actually.... until I saw him too in a dream and then i realized that this black figure was a result of the aliens void meditation or whatever you want to call that thing he does. It's freaky.... but there is only one who I can think who it could be that would be introducing himself to people I know and that particular guy also saw this black figure on top of my house around the same time period. Has to be him... so it's hard to say when the absolute last time was, because he likes to play in cognito. that's not the first time he introduced himself to one of my boyfriends.

he doesn't get seen unless he WANTS to get seen and then it's still in whatever form he chooses.

I think the black figure is when he is upset about something. That seems to corresponde very well to the incidents.

Without us (human beings) on it. In fact, I believe with every ounce of my being that we have very little time left. Probably not more than a couple hundred years. We'll be gone and the Earth (and our galaxy - unless everything has snapped back by then, but that's another thread, probably) will get on back to doing whatever it feels like doing until it drifts to end of the known universe and turns back to the nothing it was to begin with, or the sun will go all red giant and change the entire solar system, or something big enough to make it a pile of asteroids will come along. Either way, we won't be here when it happens.

Really, its too late already. And it doesn't even matter what you believe biblically or environmentally. There is too many of us now and we aren't going to come close to slowing down any time soon. There is going to be a crash of one kind or another eventually. Be it any of a number of major breakdowns in food or water supply (which is happening again right now in large parts of the world in ways that most people just can't grasp), supermassive volcano, biological or chemical warfare on a global scale, incureable widespread outbreaks of disease. etc. Its only a matter of time.

Interesting video, I've heard what he's talking about before and I think its been pretty heavily refuted. That could be another giant asteroid, though. lol Like I said, its a plausible scenario for our end. But its more likely that it will be one that sneaks up on us (in space terms that could still be a number of months or even years away) from a strange orbit. Space is huge and we can't see everything in it all the time.
