It's what they do, and neither was related to sexual activity at all.

All female

Yes it was painful and I switched to a female

I thought females would be more understanding, but maybe they can be judgmental or influenced by patriarchy too, so anyone can be a sexist, now I'm learning.

Yeah I would be, but would have to remind myself they hear this everyday

well well! Timely topic

I had a pap smear on Wednesday, didn't bat an eyelid, was too busy reeling off the kids ages - see the docs are clever, they ask you some involved question to take your mind of the cold, hard plastic speculum lol

and yesterday I had a pelvic ultrasound to rule out uterine fibroids and ovarian cysts. Doesn't look like I have either, but doc wanted it all checked out. They do the ultrasound internally with a PROBE

so, in answer to your questions geek

No embarassment, slightly elevated blood pressure is all.

I like to see a lady, preferably one with long slender fingers

I can discuss sex with them until the cows come home blahblah

lol

did you see Embarrassing Bodies on Gem last night? Most sexually active youngsters have a bunch of STIs without knowing, so docs probably don't even ask where you think you picked it up. Seems people are pretty ignorant about these things.

I had pelvic ultrasounds a couple of times years ago, but they didn't give a pap smear cause I wasn't active, though I could have asked for one anyways. But I got one a couple of years ago though not active. I think I should ask for both this time, cause I feel that my hormones are wack right now, and I do get bad abdominal pain again. I was told before I have polycystic ovaries so it could be that again.

So, is it supposed to hurt a lot? Mine did and that wasn't what I'd heard from others....that's part of why I switched though it was mainly cause I felt misunderstood for my depression issues.

that would be heinously unprofessional, but I suppose guys are so insecure they WOULD worry about that rolleyes

if it's less than 3 inches erect, it's a valid medical issue you can go and discuss with your doc btw

a pap smear?

shouldn't hurt at all. You have to relax and think about something else.

but if you are tense and anxious maybe it would?

yeah I was aware for years that it wouldn't hurt that much if at all, but it did sad I probably was tense and didn't realize, though it didn't feel like that big of a deal, was just surprised

i have issues with doctors who are in bed with medical and pharmaceutical companies, and who prescribe unnecessary treatments and/or surgeries in order to increase business for the medical and pharmaceutical companies, thereby increasing their own kickbacks/commissions. these 'doctors' are just people whose real purpose is to make money for themselves, regardless of the health of their patients.

you might be surprised by how many of these types there are.

Going to the doc is a totally different situation with different rules. I remember when I got my physical check up by the army doc dude touched my balls. It came rather unexpected, but due to the special circumstances I allowed it. That doesn't mean I'm okay with dudes touching my balls. To me a doc is a doc, sex doesn't matter. They're not even human to me.

I'm afraid of becoming victim to that if I haven't already. I'm on drugs but it seems like every time I talk about my moods or situations, I'm told to take another one in addition to it and given samples and told to come back. I used to try it and stop, but now I don't trust it in case I get worse or develop other issues. I just set up counselling to where they won't give me anything, but the last thing I want is to die of an overdose or succumb to the depression, cause I have highs and lows and have to find ways to calm down if I'm manic.

After you've had kids you kind of don't care about that stuff anymore, compared to childbirth and the amount of people in the room watching when you push out a sprog, a quick internal or pap smear is NOTHING! I don't know how many women I've heard now telling me they would run through Bourke Street mall naked now, because after having kids you've lost ANY shred of dignity you might have once had lol

we have a thing here called medicare....

when we go to the chemist to get our prescription we r always asked if we want the cheaper less expensive brand.......

it actually amazes me how backward the health services in the USA r....... here everyone gets to c a doc 4 free!!!!! and i think 1% of wages r taken out to cover medicare

but we still have private health for things like glasses n dental
