This is a NEW ERA Lbc, these players can do what Lebron did now, the players you mentioned couldn't do that twenty years ago. I bet if your team could get three all-stars in they're prime via free agency you'd be cool with that right? I know I'd be lol

The only reason Cleveland was a winner was because of Lebron, which is why the Cavs fans get a pass from me, they have every right to be mad.

It's a new era alright, the Diva era. I seriosly don't think those players back in the day would do the same. They had something called pride. A guy like Larry Bird would never join Magic Johnson, Zeke Thomas, MJ, Barkley, Dr. J. ect. He want to kill those guys. He wanted to beat the best of the best, not play with them.

Bird worked hard every offseason to beat Magic. You wouldn't have to work so hard if Magic and Dr. J was on your team.

You see how hard they used to play back in the 80s? Even the All-Star games, they was goin at it. not like today were it's just show boat, ect.

The players from the 80's and before were a different bread Lbc, it's unfair to keep comparing those era's to this one. Less teams, better fundamentals, and more talent was in the NBA back then, as well as LESS money! The sixth man off the bench makes as much money as a starter now, hell even the seventh man on some teams, lol! So yeah they are a bunch of divas now

Of the players you mentioned only Zeke and MJ were drafted onto losing teams, neither the Bulls or Pistons had been serious playoff teams for years prior to those two being drated. Bird came to the Celtics right when the retooling process was beginning, the Sixers were already a playoff team when Doc arrived and Magic was drafted into a rookies dream IMO. I'm convinced that's the only reason he came out in 79, him and his people knew the Lakers had the first pick that year, what PG wouldn't want to have Kareem Abdul Jabbar as they're starting center?

The 1980's all star games are the best, in every sport, not just basketball IMO.

Doesn't matter. They still went ring chasing.

Remember superstars are supposed to stay with their

teams their whole career. It's the Lebron rule.

No one would care if he stayed with his team for a decade and a half and by his mid 30s was left to try and get a ring like Malone and GP, cause he put some work in. Dude jumped ship in the prime of his career after leading the Cavs to the best record in the league the past two seasons.

Cleveland would not have boo'd him and hate his guts if he left that way ... Remember when Patrick Ewing left the Knicks for the Sonics in like 2002? No one cared. Now, imagine if dude left in like 1992 in the prime of his career after taking the Knicks to game 7 agaisnst the Bulls, shit would went crazy in NYC.

Here is the difference between NY and Cle. NY is more of a "baskeball town", while Cleveland is more industrious. They really don't have a sports mentality, it takes to build a basketball team. New York, is all about sports, winning and money. The problem is, when a corporation is the owner of a team, that corporation does not think about the team first. They are thinking about how do we make this business better. Why should he stay for decade? Tell me something, if you were unhappy with your job and felt that you did not have the right team to make you and the company successful, after fulfulling your obligation, what would you do? Stay another decade? Lebron fulfulled his obligation, he did not job ship. Jumping ship, would have been, leaving after the end of his first contract. Remember he signed a contract extention, that's NOT jumping ship. You can make the arguement that Ewing, Payton and Malone, stayed as long as they did, because really, nobody else would have taken them, once they were past their prime AND that they suffered from the same thing that Lebron suffered from, the missing piece that kept them from that championship.

Exactly. I still don't get what's wrong with grown men making their own career decisions?

They have already said several times that they had discussed teaming up...why is that a problem?

Whats the reason for having a draft system if you just gonna play with your friends in the long run? Hell, the NBA is gonna turn into a pick up game. You jut gonna come an run with your squad.

There is basically no loyalty in the game. And down the line, in LeBron want to be considered one of the all-time greats (or as Pippen says "The Greatest") they'll look at this. Remember when a player stayed on the team he was drafted too, and try and bring a title to that city.

Patrick Ewing, Reggie Miller, David Robinson, Hakeem Olajuwon, Stockton and Malone.

And even the few who left in their prime like Barkley, was traded from Phila, he didn't just leave. And they got some players in return. Also, LeBron had won two back to back MVPs and the past two seasons lead the Cav to the best records in the NBA at 66 and 61 games. It's not like he left a team who had missed the playoffs over the years, he left a winner.

excited That shit was bananas! Once again the Mavs were playing 5 vs. 8 on the court considering some of those calls. But there's no excuse for all those missed shots, turnovers, and dubious coverage they are shooting themselves in the foot. They coulda easily been UP 15 with fewer mistakes. They betta tighten that shit up even tho they got lucky last night. But I think the biggest reason they got back into it was the Heat's arrogance. I saw it in the Philly series and it reared it's ugly head early in this game. All the tongue wagging and chest bumpin got 'em NATHAN! hah!

Blame our brain-dead owner and his bitch Isiah Thomas for that mess. Walsh didn't even want to make the Carmelo trade, but Dolan pushed it.

Actually the Knicks blew it by hiring Pringles. I don't care what free agents Walsh brings in, Knicks will never get to the next level unless they bring it on defense like Miami and Chicago. That won't happen with the fraud we have coaching our team. I can't stand that fucking asshole D'Amdummy. I wish he'd take his 'sissyball' back to west coast.

Well Donnie Walsh is out and they're talking about Dantoni going to the Raptors.

I doubt they will cuz that's not their personality. Just look at when they won the conference. They put their hats on, held the trophy for the photo op, and walked off the court. Dirk was like, this ain't shit, I already got one of these, I need a championship ring fuck anything else. Dirk does not like it when they get overly demonstrative and he checks them to make sure they stay focused on the ultimate goal.

Miami and Dallas played each other in the finals in 2006, and Dallas lost that time.

Funny thing is in the last Finals vs Miami Dirk sucked as a leader. He was uncomfortable, unsure and when he did speak up he was almost hysterical and it was too little too late. He's grown quite a bit since then and this year didn't hesitate to put his foot in somebody's ass when needed. Even last night when Jason Terry blew the coverage on Chalmers, Dirk got in his ass on the court and cussed him out afterwards in the locker room. That's how you do that shit. thumbs up!

Because they're damn good. So yeah the former. I don't hate LeBron or none of the people in the Heat. It just seems like anybody that's "predestined" to win (they were claiming Miami were gonna win because of the trade before the season started neutral) I always find myself going for the underdog... least that's how I see Dallas.

Unfortunately, the Knicks are stuck with Pringles for another year. Forget the Toronto rumors. Coleangelo said he wants the team to focus on defense. Pringles wouldn't know defense if bit him in the ass.

This is truly a sad day for Knick fans. After ten years of mismanagement(thanks to Dolan, Scott Layden and Isiah Thomas), Donnie Walsh came here, got us under the cap, and put NY on the right track. With him gone, and Dolan and his MSG flukies in charge, the franchise is fucked again.

Once money is invovled, loyalty goes right out of the window. Besides, once you fulfill your obligations, you should be able to go and play with whom ever you please.

Truth!

Besides, where is this question of loyalty when an owner decides to trade a player, who must then uproot himself and his family and head off for parts unknown? Why is it okay for the owner to make that decision but not the player himself? Double standard.

Dude had seven years to build a team around LBJ...where was his commitment to do that and why should a player wait till he's past his prime to move on? It's been stated that LBJ did his initial contract plus signed an extension...that's not abandonment by any definition.

He didn't break any rules by excercising his option to go where he saw a better opportunity to reach his career goals...period, end of story.

But Ms SCNDLS is right, no minds will be changed, but I'm still cool with LBC too. lol

I also think an element of panic set in when the Mavs tied it up and they started over-reacting . Plus I think they underestimated how much of a factor Dirk would be possibly due to his reported injury.
