What Happens To Your Body Within An Hour Of Drinking A Coke

hmmm

When somebody drinks a Coke watch what happens…

  • In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don’t immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down.
  • 20 minutes: Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can get its hands on into fat. (There’s plenty of that at this particular moment)
  • 40 minutes: Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness.
  • 45 minutes: Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.
  • >60 minutes: The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism. This is compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium.
  • >60 Minutes: The caffeine’s diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee.) It is now assured that you’ll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water.
  • >60 minutes: As the rave inside of you dies down you’ll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You’ve also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in the Coke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like even having the ability to hydrate your system or build strong bones and teeth.

I'd be very concerned by this, if my diet consisted solely of Coke.

Shit, it's not like a can of Coke banishes those nutrients from your body forever. lol

Can you please research and report what happens an hour after

drinking a diet Dr. Pepper (that's my fave)?

Thanks!

BTW...do you drink coke, Graycap? I went off soda for a year. I lost like 15lbs, but I also went off desserts at the same time.

Interesting info, thanks for posting this.

I wonder what effects Diet Coke has on our bodies. I know it also contains caffeine and phosphoric acid but no sugar. I´m not really worried about the caffeine though, more so about the phosphoric acid, the sugar in regular coke and maybe the sweeteners.

thumbs up!

You forgot to mention that in addition to ridding yor body of much-needed calcium...the citric acid (I believe) also HINDERS the body's ability to ABSORB the stuff.

nod

I used to drink at least 1 and as many as 3 cokes a day, every day, since college. I never smoked, rarely ever drank, so my only vice was Coca-cola. Without my lunchtime coke, I would crash at my desk. It was a bonafide addiction.

Now I drink mostly WATER with my meals. I've also been working out, but I'm sure that the abstinence from soda has helped me lose about 25lbs in 4 months. Most of that from my GUT!

I think it pretty much goes for all sugar/corn syrup, caffeinated sodas or drinks.

Some have more or less sugars or caffeine but in the end the results should be similar.

I was never allowed to drink soda as a kid. My mum didn't think it was healthy and it was too expensive. She did the test of the rusty nail with me. That convinded me as a kid. We put a rusty nail in a glass, let it stand in cola for a night. Next day all the rust was gone. My mum told me only cleaning soda had the same effect and cleaning soda is dangerous to eat sad sad

Nowadays I like cola, however, I rarely drink it. Still have that horror of the cola eating my body from the inside, like cleaning soda. confused

I do drink a lot of coca-cola when I have diarrhoea. It kills everything, including the bacteria that caused it. When traveling, therefore, I drink a lot of coke lol :lol

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

hmmm I do trust her. And I can't replicate the experiment, because the recipe has changed. However, I can do the experiment with the current coca-cola on the market.

Will do it this weekend and come back to you with the results......

Unless it was done in the few months of NEW COKE or you are really old then the formula for coke is the same as it has been for ages. Well maybe not the sugar/corn syrup switch.

but it should be the same. Also if you do it with coke try water and club soda too...

A friend of mine couldn´t loosen the saddle of his bike, and the dudes at the bike shop left it in cola overnight to get rid of the rust, and it worked.

hmmm So either this is the greatest way to lose weight or gain weight.

Um....doesn't this mean pretty much nothing if you've built up a tolerance for CocaCola over the years?

wave the only soda I drink. I either drink that or an energy drink like Rock Star which surely must be far more damaging to my system than Coca Cola. lol I have heard though, that Coke is a good degreaser so I may by some and test it out on my stovetop.

lol Pepsi and Coke are very much the same thing IMHO. I've tried actual Coke, couldn't tell "the difference" that some claim. I need to go back to drinking Sprite full time though. I still drink it whenever we eat out. lol
