'Taxi' Star Jeff Conaway Dead at 60, Report Says

advertisement

After spending weeks in a coma thought to be brought on by a prescription drug overdose, “Taxi” star Jeff Conaway has died, according to a report from Radar Online. He was 60 years old.

Conaway, who is perhaps best known for his role as Kenickie in the iconic film “Grease,” fell into a coma after the reported overdose and was taken to a hospital on May 11. He never woke up.

On Thursday, Radar reported that the family of the star, who had a long and public battle with drug addiction, was looking to take him off of life support. Doctors had previously told the family that no brain activity was detected from the star, Radar reported.

The decision had to be delayed when his ex-girlfriend, Vikki Lizzi, took the family to court over the decision.

Conaway had a restraining order against Lizzi, so she was not permitted to be at the hospital.

Such a very sad end, he just could never escape the addictions, which lead to countless health issues which in the end cost him his life. So terribly sad, one of the stars of the BEST ALL TIME COMEDY SITCOM LINEUP....No show came close to that lineup!

U know i think what gets lost alot is our/media or whatever that bashes stars when they fall from the public eye, its no secret that Jeff was riding high when he walked away from TAXI but nothing every came of his attempt to build on his fame from that show, thats when i feel all this started, that and the talk of "has been" and things that is tossed around when we dont see someone 24/7 on tv. Its sad how words like that get tossed around and publicized in mass media publications and their is never any kind of "retractions" of those statements. I think we can all make a list of who the media has done this too, and many who were even still doing things, just not as BIG as before, but again, a life lost, is the saddest part, regardless of the "name"

He was miserable in his skin so I'm happy for him. He'll be in a better place now I hope.

I was never a big fan of "Grease" as I was of "Taxi".

Conaway just got caught up and couldn't shake it, my deepest sympathy goes out to his family.

Besides Grease and Taxi, a lot of sci-fi fans remember him from Babylon 5.

But his drug demons were brutal. evillol demon chill pill In the past few years, he was in so much pain that he literally went suicidal with his addictions. Mostly, he just didn't want to hurt anymore. It turns out he died from pneumonia and sepsis (overload of bad bacteria in his bloodstream), but I'm sure his lifelong addiction battles probably ravaged his body and decimated his immune system to the point he had no chance of survival. RIP.

Second of all, I'm not really surprise to hear about his death. His on-again, off-again drug problems were NEVER resolved at all.

pretty much all the usual suspects. xanax and oxycontin are what we knew he took the night before, but that's just what his girlfriend saw him physically take. he could have had other crap in his body already, or taken others when she wasn't looking.

We should go back to the old ways of dealing with life's problems: beating your bitch, date rapin your high school sweetie- oops wrong hole eek, hittin' the bottle, punting the cat, shootin up the post office, givin your kids lots of whoopins, and kicking the shit out of your lippy mother-in-law.

Oh violence in America. Where has you gone? ...sigh... shrug I miss you like crazy...cuz we all a little crazy. music

One way or another we gonna kill ourselves or eachother. I like to call it Love4Killin1Another.
