Student Loans

confused wtf is it with student loans! it seem's almost everyone i know has an issue with there loan provider and mine as of recent is giving me the anger chills lol.

I was supposed to get my check 2 week's ago, and i was like ok....... then next week came NADA and now it' Wednesday. And they tell me that magically my check is actually going to come on the 17th and give or take a day because of memorial day even though memorial day just happened razz

And they decided to split it and only give me half this month & half next month in july...... after i graduate no less. I am also having an issue getting my check's from these people it's insane!

Anyone else had similar issues?

Thank God you don't live in England...the student loans system here was a disgrace when I went 13 years ago and it's even worse now. They don't start taking repayments out if your wages until you earn a certain amount per year...what they didn't explain to many people very clearly is that during that time the interest is mounting up; at one stage they were charging me more in interest than they were taking off me. Put it this way - I had a fairly small loan for my 2nd and 3rd year 13 years ago, I have a well paid job and have been paying back each month for 10-11 years....and I'm still atleast 2 years away.

Now consider that, if you start Uni this year, then the student fees FOR 1 YEAR ONLY could be more than my entire university course cost (and i only took this loan for 2 of the 3 years)and a degree is 3 years....you're talking about people having debt for the rest of their lives and beyond - what a wonderful first step in to adulthood - in theory some people will be graduating with AT LEAST £27,000 debt...and that's just the course fees nevermind living for 3 years.

It's very smoke and mirrors - they sell it with the "you don't pay back until..." and neglect to mention the interest. People have got wise now - when I went the government scrapped grants in favour of loans and I wasn't alone in thinking they were interest free when we signed up

They didn't have those options... they had glass blowers though, no where near as expensive as film and photography majors.

yeah, but she couldn't do it for a career, she has hand tremors thanks to an anti-nausea drug she was given (Stemetil) and turned out to be allergic to, and the anti-spasm drugs she was given to counter the reaction was a bit too late, irreversible permanent damage already done sad

I don't think she has grounds to sue, how can they know if you are allergic to a drug you've never had before? They administered the other drug to counter as soon as they realised she was reacting. sigh

She (my parents on behalf of her 13 year old self) did however successfully sue the roller rink where a cinder brick wall collapsed on top of her and caused her femur to break clean in half.

And it doesnt end there! The roller rink sued the company that built the wall. After that both businesses went out of business.
