99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

lol Everytime someone says "I'm so miserable and lonely", I reply "Well, do you have a house? Do you have a bed to sleep in? Look at these poor children in Africa. They have nothing. They can't even be on the org!"

I'm with you on that one.

Poor, poor people who don't have acces to the org. How can they live?

However, I don't consider every painfull experience relatively. Different people have very different kind of suffering. However, I don't like it to diminish one person's sincere pain, because there will allways be somenone who is suffering more. That doesn't make the other person suffer less.

I just don't like those contests about "he has more pain than you".

And for what reason would I?

As much as I get the "put things in perspective part" I agree that being reminded that someone else has it worse when you are down and heart-broken doesn't exactly help you. And the photo of the baby on a cheer up thread is bad taste IMO even if I can see the intentions.

Sadly I don't find anything to cheer Militant or anybody else who needs it up. If the same happened to me I would be so devestated that nothing would cheep me up sigh. So all I have to offer is a

That is really sad. Vulture is waiting for the baby to die, and I'm sure it can sense death. sad

Actually, no. Kevin Carter just went away, leaving that poor baby on the ground. But don't worry, he killed himself later.

Yeah, reading those posts sure helps to cheer someone up rolleyes.

The point is that when you look at it from the different view (which is very difficult task for the most people), you'll realise that you're not as miserable as you think. "Always look on the bright side of life". You can always find something to be happy about.

Yeah...no matter how many different ways I try to look at it, a vulture getting ready to eat a dying baby doesn't inspire me to "find something to be happy about."

:peace: I am going through rough times myself and being reminded of the suffering of others who have it way worse than I do makes me feel sory for them, but does not ease my own pain. I understand your putting things in perspective thought, but already as a child I hated it when my mom told me when I did not want to eat my food that the children who are dying in Africa would be happy if they had any food at all. And I would not tell somebody who is heart-broken that he should feel okay because at that very minute others are raped, killed or dying of cancer.

The Org is full of heartbreak, loneliness & dissapointment recently, huh?

sad

Well..here's a pic that should bring someone a smile...my kids at the beach on a summer day, playing in the surf with that innocent joy that comes with youth;

sigh ....what I wouldn't give to be that carefree again!

It seems our mothers were alike. Strange, I had never noticed I act like her before. I understand why that picture could offend some people, but it depends on our personalities and how we look at the same things differently.

nod Yes! That's what I feel when I see that pic. We have a 5x7 of it framed in our living room.

In fact I'm ordering an enlargement now to hang in my cubicle.

(there's irony in that, isn't there?)
